My girls and I made these simple little beaded bracelets the other day and I wanted to share this idea with you as well. We made these one afternoon when we just couldn’t face heading outside into the triple digit weather and decided instead to have a cartoon and craft party.
My little girl absolutely loves Elena of Avalor so we decided on an Elena theme. If you haven’t seen this cartoon yet, it is a newer show on Disney Junior and it is all about a teen princess named Elena that saves her country of Avalor from an Evil Sorceress. She needs to learn to rule her country with the guidance of friends, her little sister, her Grandparents and more. It is a really sweet show and was a massive hit last year with the 2nd grade crowd. We happen to be in with this crowd and went to several Elena themed birthdays last year and over half of the class dressed as Elena for Halloween. Elena is currently our favorite princess and I love the sweet messages that the show reinforces with children. I have two girls close in age and I especially love the sweet relationship Elena has with her little sister.
Elena wears a bold red dress, orange flowers in her hair, a tiara with red and turquoise and a turquoise and gold bracelet. I thought it would be fun to create bracelets in the same color scheme to match Elena.
I think these turned out really cute and my daughter absolutely loved them. This would be a perfect craft for an Elena themed party or sleep over or just something you can do to spend a little quality time with the kids. I was snapping some photos the other day of my girls and I kept thinking how adorable my littlest looked that day and I finally figured out she had slipped on these bracelets and it really made her outfit so much cuter.
To put these bracelets together we wandered the aisle of our local craft store and found turquoise beads, little red and orange flower charms and some gold accent beads.
I bought this stretch magic cording and it was quite thick, so tying a knot at the end to start the bracelet was tricky. Once I tied the knot, I held each end tightly and dabbed a bit of hot glue and held it for just a minute to let the glue dry. This kept the knot in place. Next time I will purchase a different style of bead cording to use.
I separated the beads into little jars and let the kids get to work.
My 9 year old made this one and we added an orange flower charm and my 8 year old made a solid turquoise with a red charm.
What do you think? Does it look like something Elena of Avalor would wear?
We were having fun with these bracelets so we also did some smaller ones with red beads I had on hand and look how cute these are all stacked together!
Simple, easy and a perfect way to spend an afternoon with my favorite people. This would be a fantastic craft for an Elena Birthday Party too. Just lots of beads, cording, some fun charms and I bet it is a huge hit.
And since summer is starting to wind down, here is one more little reminder about the adorable cartoons you can find on Disney Channel and Disney Junior right now.
Disney Channel is featuring brand new episodes of popular cartoons like Puppy Dog pals, Mickey and the Roadster Racers, Lion Guard, Sofia the First and our favorite, Elena of Avalor, from 6am-10am daily. The promotion is called Disney FRiYAY and if you want to catch some older episodes of these shows, you can always tune into Disney Junior anytime.
Here is the schedule for the remainder of summer for the Disney FRi-YAY promotion:
