I have partnered with Disney Junior to create a fun and simple project to keep the kid’s entertained this summer.
I have the perfect project for little ones that love race cars and Mickey Mouse! You can make this in just minutes with (3) items you might have on hand already. This is a great indoor activity to beat the summer heat or you can move this outside and use the chalk on your sidewalk or driveway. I make these racetracks all the time for my little girl when her big sis is at soccer tournaments or baseball games. You really just need chalk and a flat surface and you can make one of these anywhere to keep the little ones entertained.
For this racetrack, I used black chalkboard wrapping paper. The wrapping paper is perfect for uneven outdoor surfaces or for use indoors. Set this up in the kitchen and the kids can play happily while you prepare dinner.
Unroll the paper to the size that will fit your space and use painters tape to secure it in place. Now it is time for a little creativity! Use chalk to draw racetrack lanes, buildings, landmarks etc… You can totally customize this to your child. I spent about 10 minutes total drawing in little buildings and trees and clouds and such. You might actually unroll the paper while you are watching Mickey & the Roadster Racers and it will be finished before the cartoon ends!
Older children can draw the art in themselves. My 10 year old actually loves these sorts of projects and she helped me with the trees and the buildings for our race track.
And speaking of shows, Disney Channel and Disney Junior are celebrating some special programming this summer. You might already be aware of the adorable shows that can be found on Disney Junior- some of our favorites are Mickey & the Roadster Racers, Sofia the First, Elena of Avalor, The Lion Guard and Puppy Dog Pals… This summer, you can tune into the Disney Channel and catch the brand new episodes of all your favorite Disney Junior shows from 6am-10am. They are calling this Fri-YAY and it is every morning from 6am-10am on Disney Channel.

And you can always tune into Disney Junior anytime to catch more cute shows and to see older episodes.
In our house, I tend to get up early to finish work and check emails and handle all the boring appointments and scheduling for the family. I love having these cute shows available to keep the children occupied while I handle my to do list. The children can eat breakfast, watch cartoons and I don’t have to worry about what they are seeing or inappropriate content. I know they are watching cute shows with great messages. We just returned from Disneyland a few weeks ago so Mickey has been at the top of our list and Mickey & the Roadster Racers is an adorable show.
I drew a little racetrack for the Roadster Racers and added in some of the cute spots mentioned in the cartoon- Hot Dog Hills Drive Thru, Mickey’s Garage, Happy Helper’s (Minnie & Daisy’s business), Goofy Gas pumps and so on. My daughter really got a kick out of those references.
And that is it! Your little one can play as long as they like and you can roll this up for another day or just toss it out. Please note your child may get chalk on knees and hands and clothing if you use standard outdoor play chalk as I did. It washes right off but play clothing might be in order. You can also use crayons or washable markers to create your race track- whatever you have on hand works!
Have fun with your DIY indoor track this summer and watching these cute shows with your little ones.
I so appreciate all the amazing sponsors that keep this site running- thank you Disney Junior for sponsoring this post. #DisneyJuniorFRiYAY
