Happy July to everyone! I hope your summer is treating you well and you are enjoying a little extra time with your family.
We have been so busy this summer, my girls do two weeks at VBS and I volunteer one week with each child. Let me tell you it is only 3 hours a day but I was so exhausted from chasing (10) soon to be 1st graders followed by a week doing Dance Praise with (7) soon to be 3rd graders. Exhausting but so much fun!
If you are on Instagram you have already seen some glimpses of our busy summer– a little local travel, a Mariner’s baseball game (at Giant’s Stadium- such a gorgeous park!), dance recitals, swim lessons, cupcake classes, lots of library trips and much more.
My daughter has taken (2) of the Little Makers classes at Joann’s so far this summer and they are great! Totally recommend if you have crafty little people at home. This summer she has been really interested in learning to sew and considering I have had a sewing machine in the garage since she was … cough… 6 months old that I have never touched. Well learning to sew is on the horizon for the two of us. If you have been reading me for awhile, you will remember I have said this for like the last 4 years but this is the summer! Finally going to do it!
We have been doing a ton of work around the house- lots of little things like never ending yardwork and fun little projects for the kiddos. We made a giant outdoor chalkboard- the first thing my 7 year old did was draw a rainbow and the first thing my 6 year old did was write a to do list (yup- she is officially my mini-me.)
What was on her list for the day? Breakfast, color, playing tic tac toe (on the new chalkboard clearly), pool time, coloring again, followed by dinner.
Big day for her and all of that was planned out on a Sunday morning in Super Girl pjs.
We are gearing up for a trip to Universal Studios in Florida again this year, planning a certain 7 year old’s birthday party- Harry Potter theme this year, and we are trying to plan something fun for our 10th wedding anniversary that rolls around in October! Goodness we are old and goodness the time goes by in a blink.
Also it is only mid July but I am working away on some back to school posts and fun projects. Oh and learning how to make videos! I am hoping to start adding a few videos to my tutorial posts so those of you that are visual learners will have a little extra help seeing what the heck it is I am talking about. Scary to put yourself out there but I haven’t done videos in ages and hopefully my new ones will be a bit more professional looking than ones I did a few years back (let’s not discuss those.)
Here are a few things I am loving these days:
I got a sample of this Cutex polish remover pads in my Target beauty box order and man I love these things! So handy when you are on the go all the time like me and they work really, really well. I actually grabbed one of these and my polish and sat on the beach dealing with a frightening manicure situation just the other day. No mess, low odor and done in like 20 seconds.
I may or may not have gone a teensy crazy at the Nordstrom semi- annual sale. It is OK though because believe it or not I am really not much of a shopper so I don’t spend a lot on clothes for myself and then a big sale comes along and well- step out of the way people Mama needs new shoes. In addition to the cute things I mentioned here, I also picked up:
Slouchy/silky top // Button Front Denim Skirt // Moto Jacket
Yeah! It is 250 degrees in Sacramento but come fall I will be totally set.
And last but not least- here are a few of the books I have been reading and loving this summer:
Yellow House // Summer Secrets // Looking for Alaska // What She Left Behind
I am also plugging through the list of Summer Reading for 2015 that I posted a few weeks ago. Summer is all about lots of library trips and lots of reading for us.
So as always, thank you for sharing a bit of your life with me and I hope you enjoy the rest of your summer!
