Here is a new promotion from Starbucks if you are not a Rewards member.
Really quickly the rewards program doesn’t cost anything to join and it is worthwhile because every time you purchase a drink, they track it and once you buy 12 drinks, you get one free.
They also send you a coupon for a free drink on your birthday. These can be any size or any drink you want. (I get a venti two pump Vanilla Latte most of the time.)
You also get the occasional coupon from Starbucks- so it is pretty simple and easy and you can save a little bit here and there.
The catch is that to become a My Starbucks Rewards member, you need to purchase a gift card and register it online or via the free mobile app. That is how they track your purchases so you can continue to reload the card over and over and make sure you use it to pay each time you visit a Starbucks.
I believe you can get a gift card for any amount, so hit a store and get a $5 gift card and then make sure to go home and register it.
You need to register for the program by 9/22 to qualify for the free drink.
**One little tip. If you download the free app, it will search all the time for the closest Starbucks so it does tend to put a strain on the iPhone battery. You can always close out the app when you aren’t using it. I do that and it just takes a second. If you forget no big deal but my battery is always an issue so I try to remember.
And by the way, after you score your free drink, here are several Starbucks Copycat Recipes to try!
- Iced Coffee Recipe (add flavor syrups or chocolate for a mocha)
- Starbucks Hot Chocolate (best hot chocolate and so easy!)
- Iced Passion Tea Lemonade Recipe
- Easy Frappucino Recipe
- Cranberry Bliss Bars (these are amazing!!)

Hi, Charlene! I attended your presentation at my church last Thursday evening, and was so, so impressed by your honest and genuine nature and approach to sharing with us your tips and advice about living frugally. I have couponed for years but have recently been so wrapped up with the busyness of life (aren’t we all to a degree?), that I’ve found myself falling victim to many of the patterns you mentioned, particularly going to the grocery store just before dinner and spending a ton more money on food than if I’d sat down earlier in the week to plan out a meal plan (and look at store ads, coupons, etc), then shopped in advance for ONLY those items. I found your words to be very encouraging, and many of us remarked (after you left) about what a down to earth, sweet person you were. Truly, you did an outstanding job of relating to us and just sayin’ it like it is! I could have listened to you for another full hour! 🙂 Thank you for taking the time to come talk with us. I look forward to following your blog and facebook page.
On a side note, here’s another Starbucks copycat recipe to add to your list. I discovered it a few years ago and had to share: http://valeriandersen.blogspot.com/2010/11/solution-to-indulgence.html
Happy Fall to you!! 🙂

Hi Valerie!
So glad to hear you got something from it… I tend to worry that I ramble away and no one gets any takeaway. That cider is the BEST and I have that on my fall list to play with recipes. The Cinnamon Dolce is just genius. I wouldn’t have thought of that! Cinnamon Dolce lattes were my fave for a long time 🙂
