So this is just about the most decadent obsession in my life and I only treat myself to these every few months.
They are literally heaven on a plate – super rich and creamy and salty with a kick of spice. Yum!
I do an extra class at the gym whenever we have these fries and I can tell you every minute is worth it because they are so very, very delicious! You might want to file this recipe away for Super Bowl parties or it is a great option for summer when you might be grilling hamburgers. Or just grab a fork and show these fries you mean business (I won’t tell).
The ingredients are going to sound a little odd but please trust me here because these fries really are amazing.
The inspiration for this recipe comes from an awesome little restaurant in my city called Jack’s Urban Eats.
We eat there every so often and every time I go I simply can’t resist the Jack’s Urban Fries which are a mix of french fries, blue cheese, chili oil and red pepper flakes. If you happen to find yourself in the Sacramento area I hope you find your way into a Jack’s because they make delicious salads and sandwiches and hey did I mention the fries?
I decided to try to recreate these lovely things to share the goodness of Jack’s Urban Fries with those of you outside of California.
Here is what you need:
- Italian Parsley (optional)
- Chili Oil (find this in the Asian Foods section of most grocery stores)
- Red Pepper Flakes
- Blue Cheese
- Ranch Dressing
- Frozen French Fries (I like Alexia fries the best)
So the first time I made these I used Blue Cheese dressing and it just didn’t taste right. The second time I made these I tried Ranch and that seems to be closer to what Jack’s makes. I actually make my own Ranch dressing but this Marzetti Simply Dressed is my favorite bottle dressing.
Also you can use any sort of fries you like. I personally like these Yukon Select fries from Alexia because they don’t get soggy and gross under the weight of all that blue cheesey-ness. You could try Alexia waffle fries too but this is a messy dish so I prefer something a little closer to bite size.
So this is the basic recipe and it is just crazy simple. You might want to get the dressing ready to go when the fries are done cooking so you can eat this nice and hot.
Here is what your ranch dressing and blue cheese will look like and by the way if you want to just keep it on the side like this and dip your fries that would be really delicious too. Just drizzle the oil right over the top and garnish.
- Italian Parsley chopped
- Chili Oil
- Red Pepper Flakes
- Blue Cheese chopped- about 3oz
- Ranch Dressing ½ cup
- Frozen French Fries or Waffle Fries
- Cook french fries according to package instructions.
- Mix chopped blue cheese and ranch dressing. Set aside.
- Once the fries are finished cooking, remove from oven and place on serving dish.
- Pour your ranch mixture over the top.
- Drizzle chili oil over the top of the ranch dressing.
- Sprinkle red pepper flakes and parsley.
- Grab a fork and enjoy!!
Most of this should be customized according to your taste. The chili oil is very spicy so go super light on that if you have a sensitive mouth. My chili oil came in a jar so I actually transferred it into a plastic squeezy container to have more control over how much drizzles out. I am not a spicy food person- I am a mild all the way kind of girl but this chili oil adds so much to this dish so I really hope you try it too.
Also, for the images above I made the fries super blue cheesey- I used closer to 3/4 cup Ranch and about 3.5oz of Blue Cheese crumbles for that entire bag of fries.
And here are a few other recipes you might enjoy- if you decide to try this one I hope you will come back and let me know what you think!
- Parmesan Crusted Pesto Grilled Cheese
- Creamy Cauliflower Soup
- Creamy Crock Pot Chicken Tacos
- Molten Chocolate Chip Cookies
- Mexican Grilled Corn
- Crock Pot Maple and Brown Sugar Steel Cut Oatmeal
- Simple Roasted Eggplant Sandwich
- Crock Pot Applesauce
And by the way, if you find yourself eating a few too many fries, try this lemon water. It will make your tummy feel better right away.

I saw this post and thought, JACKS!!! I used to always order their garlic fries, but one day I ordered these. I haven’t had the garlic ones since 🙂 I am so glad they have a restaurant in Roseville now. Thanks for the recipe.

Nicole,
I know these sound gross but they are just so good! I get the veggie sandwich to go with it and then steal some of the children’s mac and cheese so it is always a big carby calorie fest there ;). Worth it though.
