I think most people are already familiar with Apartment Guide as a resource for finding apartment rentals across the United States. Many of the properties they feature also have floor plans, comprehensive photographs and other information to help you find the perfect rental space. In addition, Apartment Guide also has tips for entertaining and decorating.
And I was recently challenged by Apartment Guide to come up with fun, budget-friendly, entertaining ideas in smaller spaces.
I am actually planning a birthday party for my nephew so I decided to take on this challenge and see what I can come up with! We initially planned a backyard BBQ but the weather has changed those plans. Not to worry, we decided to just continue the celebration indoors! This is my nephew’s 21st birthday so we are having a Mexican Fiesta (his favorite food) and I am hoping to pull together a fun, vibrant party to celebrate.
To make this challenge more exciting, Apartment Guide is offering a $100 gift card giveaway to one My Frugal Adventures reader!
You will get a $100 American Express gift card that can be used anywhere you like. This giveaway will run through Wednesday at 4pm PST.

Winning this would definitely help me stay on budget for my daughters birthday party! Planning ahead and using as many coupons and daily deal site are also great ways to help keep cost down!
We save by using the photo deals posted on line to create birthday invitations and then we had deliever as many as possible.

My son’s 3rd birthday is coming up. We have the party at home and make the food ourselves to save money. I stock up on paper plates and utinsils when I see good deals so that is less stuff I have to buy when it’s time for the party.

My son’s 1st birthday! He turns 1 in June 😉
We’re moving into our first real home in 2 weeks. I’d love to throw a housewarming party. Every time we try to stay low budget we provide a main dish (burgers/ribs/carne asada) and have everyone else bring side dishes. I don’t buy any snacks! OH, and to reduce the amount of trash, we have people write their names on their cups with a marker so they don’t keep throwing away and using more cups.
My kids had a valentines party and had so much fun that now they want to have a St. Patricks day Party! Not sure what to do for this party, but this would help!
For us the biggest expense is always food. This last year I looked around the house to see what I had. A ham in the freezer that we had picked up after Easter was great with Costco rolls. It is always about what I can find the best deal on. If it isn’t a birthday party where guests will be bringing gifts for your kiddos, as them to bring something. Everybody chips in, and your cost will go way down!

It would help me with planning birthday party!
My tip is keep it fun but simple. I think often times people go overboard with the details and end up having more stress than fun.
This would be great to helpwith planning a party for my niece who is having a baby,

My kiddos’ birthday parties are one of they only events I don’t cheap out on, so I don’t really have a tip (other than buying on Etsy because they have quality, personalized products without a huge price tag), but my littlest guy’s 2nd birthday is coming up and I’m planning a “Hungry Caterpillar” party for him so the gift card would definitely come in handy!
We are going to be having a sprinkler birthday party for my daughter this summer. I think the biggest tip is to plan in advance. The longer you have to find great deals on items the better!
I subscribe to your e-mail. Thanks for the giveaway!

I subscribe via your email feed. I have a little girl, so everything has to be glittery, pink, purple and fluffy. I have to watch Michaels and Joanns for sales and stock up.
We make a lot of the food our self and always make some creative party favors!!

I definitly plan months ahead so if I see any good deals or clearance finds I can grab them. This would be really helpful towards my son’s upcoming birthday party.
My sons 3rd birthday is coming up and we are doing a pirate theme party. Oriental trading company has great goodies and we are making the cake from the family fun magazine!

Buying ahead and getting items on clearance is the best money saver. I make everything myself – cake, food, invites, thank you cards. I also love to go all out with decorations to create a whole different feel, but that can really add up. For kids parties streamers are a great deal. So cheap, but if you use lots of them they are very festive.

I love to go all out for decorations, but they get expensive. For kids’ parties you can’t beat streamers – super cheap and if you use lots of them they are very festive.
I am like so many others and pick up gifts and party items all year. My granddaughter wants a Mickey Mouse Birthday this year and I scored on Mickey suckers and other MIckey candy in the after Valentines Day sales. Did the same for decorations for our daughter’s weddings!

My best tip is when people offer to bring things… to let them!
I buy decorations and favors when I see them on clearance off season to help stay on budget.

I would love to host a girls night in/Chinese food themed party! Woohoo!

Get a large, cheap cut of meat like a roast, and braise it in the crock pot. Short ribs also work out great. You spend a small amount of money for big flavor! Pair it with some homemade roasted potatoes for a complete meal!

The only way we can afford to have a party is by asking everybody to bring something. I am also always stocked up on napkins, plates, cups, etc I have found on clearance!

I plan fun fingerfoods instead of a meal. It’s less expensive and people love to snack! Also, I use dessert plates. Smaller plates means less wasted food!!
I follow you on facebook and email. What can I say…I’m addicted to good deals!!
I would give my husband a birthday party with having seven kids we dont normally do much on bdays for us and would love to do something for him to make him feel special
Looking forward to my daughter’s second birthday. We shopped the clearance sale at target and got everything half price!
