I think most people are already familiar with Apartment Guide as a resource for finding apartment rentals across the United States. Many of the properties they feature also have floor plans, comprehensive photographs and other information to help you find the perfect rental space. In addition, Apartment Guide also has tips for entertaining and decorating.
And I was recently challenged by Apartment Guide to come up with fun, budget-friendly, entertaining ideas in smaller spaces.
I am actually planning a birthday party for my nephew so I decided to take on this challenge and see what I can come up with! We initially planned a backyard BBQ but the weather has changed those plans. Not to worry, we decided to just continue the celebration indoors! This is my nephew’s 21st birthday so we are having a Mexican Fiesta (his favorite food) and I am hoping to pull together a fun, vibrant party to celebrate.
To make this challenge more exciting, Apartment Guide is offering a $100 gift card giveaway to one My Frugal Adventures reader!
You will get a $100 American Express gift card that can be used anywhere you like. This giveaway will run through Wednesday at 4pm PST.

we did a sesame street theme for our 2 year olds bday party. streamers at the dollar store, found sesame street plates and cups real cheap online, and rented an elmo costume for a relative to dress in and come into the party. the kids loved it!
Your site helps save money on parties! I snag the photo deals you post for invitations, pick up clearance items for decorations, party favors, presents, ect. Also, I love the idea of a Kabob party. Each person bring a food item to make kabobs!

I love hosting parties and try to pick up party supplies on clearance, which I am able to do frequently. Then I stock up on quick fix finger food using your money saving tips!

We just had my daughter’s first birthday party. Cake from groupon and Nothing Bundt Cakes, decor from the dollar store! Simple and yummy and easy!
We also save money by doing potluck dishes for our parties. It is a great way to cut down on costs.

We used to cater our parties but that got very expensive. Now we try to save money by making all of the food at home
for our parties. It really is sooo much cheaper.

I used a Groupon to have a fabulous Build-a-Bear party for my daughter. Loads of fun for 1/2 price!
I would love to use it on my twins 4th birthday party this year. I think it will be outdoors and bbq style:)

I love to have several families over at one time. That way you only clean the house once and I think that it is cheaper to cook for several at one time than it is to have people over in smaller groups. Of course, let them bring something to help out. My favorite get together is a bonfire.
I’d use this for my son’s birthday party. Thanks.
I get your daily e-mails.
I’d love to use it to throw my daughter a Wizard of Oz party.

one of my favorite parties to throw is an “iron chef” party. you designate a specific ingredient, and everyone brings a dish with that ingredient in it: it becomes a fun little competition, and requires little to no food prep and $$!

Easy budget friendly option is having a pot luck.

Great way to stay within a budget is to plan ahead and purchase items when Charlene lets us know they are on sale! this goes from food to decorations and party favors!
Do your own entertainment – rent a karaoke machine, have a casino or game night, have a dance party

My church group put on a wedding reception on a $100 budget. We got some folks to make some food, someone made/donated the cake, and most of the $100 went on decorations, plates, cups, etc, and fill out the food.
I would have a Mardi Gras themed party!
