I think most people are already familiar with Apartment Guide as a resource for finding apartment rentals across the United States. Many of the properties they feature also have floor plans, comprehensive photographs and other information to help you find the perfect rental space. In addition, Apartment Guide also has tips for entertaining and decorating.
And I was recently challenged by Apartment Guide to come up with fun, budget-friendly, entertaining ideas in smaller spaces.
I am actually planning a birthday party for my nephew so I decided to take on this challenge and see what I can come up with! We initially planned a backyard BBQ but the weather has changed those plans. Not to worry, we decided to just continue the celebration indoors! This is my nephew’s 21st birthday so we are having a Mexican Fiesta (his favorite food) and I am hoping to pull together a fun, vibrant party to celebrate.
To make this challenge more exciting, Apartment Guide is offering a $100 gift card giveaway to one My Frugal Adventures reader!
You will get a $100 American Express gift card that can be used anywhere you like. This giveaway will run through Wednesday at 4pm PST.

I will start planning and organizing my 4 year old triplets 5 year birthday party. It isn’t until December 24th, but starting early and planning ahead is how I stay on budget!

We have started skipping the party favor or goody bags. Less money out of my pocket for stuff that will likely get thrown away as soon as it gets home anyway.

Would love to throw my hubby a great 40th b-day party!
For birthday parties, I bake my own cake and usually just serve finger foods. That seems to cut down on the expenses.
I plan my menu out weeks ahead of time; I pick up food as it goes on sale. This way I don’t buy everything at the last second and I don’t pay full price for everything.
I get your emails. Thanks for everything!

Having your party at home can save alot and making your own cake. I mean buying one is 25 bucks or so, making one even with designs and different colors probably around 5!

I don’t have any tips. But I would throw a great anniversary party for our 11th this year!

I would use it to plan a surprise birthday party for my hubby who totally deserves it! To help keep things cheap, I would keep it low key and plan far in advance to find deals.
I like to make my own food and cake to save time. It tastes super good too!
Pre-planning for parties is what helps me stay on budget. I pick up discounted party favors everytime I see them, and stock up on paper plates, napkins, and cutlery. I also stock up on small toys that are perfect for party favors throughout the year. I plan the menu around what is on sale. I also save money by making my own cakes.

One tip that is great and cheap for b-day parties are pinatas, Kids love that stuff and they are cheap and easy to fill.
My granddaughter will be 16 next month and would love to give her a fabulous party and this would help. The year with my tightest budget I served popcorn and koolaid at one of her mother’s parties.
my family often has a byo plate party, where we all bring something for all to enjoy

I would like to have an un-birthday party for all my loved ones!
My girls and I make all the decorations and bake and decorate the cakes ourselves. Not only does it save us quite a bit, It allows us to spend some quality girl time together, and have a blast and be creative. They both enjoy designing all their own goodies. It really makes them feel like it truly is THEIR party.

I’d use it for my sons 2nd birthday party!
Start planning early, decide on theme, and chose one or two base colors from that theme. Add splashes of those colors everywhere. Hang curling ribbon and ballons from the ceiling, it makes it so festive and the kids love it. Serve food with a theme, finger, dessert, mexican, etc. For my daughter’s 4th bday we did an orange theme (her favorite color). Food, drinks, cake, table covers, everything was orange! We even asked the guest to wear any orange they had. She beamed seeing everyone in her favorite color.
With spring finally coming, I can’t wait to plan my first BBQ party!
