This week has been a little slow and boring and I have been doing some slow and boring things like organizing, back end work, bookkeeping, home schooling… trying not to suffocate from the terrible smoke in California… So I thought I’d put together a few things that I bought and loved the past few weeks that have brightened our days a bit.
Welly Tie Dye Bandaids: We keep this tin in my daughter’s soccer backpack and when she ran out of bandaids, I just picked up this second tin to keep in the car. We have had so many Welly bandaids- rainbows, monsters etc… but these tie dye ones are so fun and cute and I love the bright colors. I keep the tin in her soccer bag with a tiny Neosporin and some KT tape plus a few Aleve/Pamperin and I can’t even tell you how often we dig the tin out for her and her teammates.
Olaplex Bonding Oil: I bought this on the recommendation of a friend and it is a fantastic product. I originally bought it because my daughter’s hair is thick and crazy and bless her heart but I can barely get her to wash it let alone brush it nicely. So it looks like a horse’s tail most of the time. She and I both have oily hair so adding oil is scary to me but I was brave and tried this and it is so lovely I now use it on my own hair. I wouldn’t try this on very fine or thin hair but on thicker hair it is wonderful to smooth it out, provide heat protection and gives hair a glossier finish. If you have kids in sports, in dance, in swim etc.. this product is wonderful. Just a tiny bit goes a long way.
Bissell Zing Vacuum : This vacuum was recommended by one of my favorite Insta accounts, Go Clean. I bought it a few weeks ago and I love it. It is pretty small and meant for hard surfaces (not carpets) so I have this downstairs and use it daily for our hardwood floors, kitchen/bathroom/laundry room etc… This isn’t the best vacuum for hard surfaces- but it is small and lightweight and I especially love it for the nozzle attachment. That thing means business and it is so good at vacuuming up inside the window tracks, baseboards, tight corners, the air vents throughout the house, inside bed rails… The really deep cleaning type stuff the nozzle has awesome suction and works far better than our old Dyson did.
Zella Joggers: I absolutely adore these joggers and I am wearing them today. I bought them during the anniversary sale and have worn them at least once a week since. They are so comfortable and surprisingly flattering and a great alternative to yoga pants. I just saw a friend the other day that is far more pulled together than I am and she looked so sporty and cute in joggers, sneakers, a t-shirt and jean jacket and I was thinking oh I need to pull myself together like she does. Then we both realized we were wearing the same joggers and I gave myself a little pat on the back. I was wearing a tshirt and Adidas slides so not quite as cute as her but I can’t recommend these highly enough.
Waterloo Sparkling Water: This is my favorite beverage right now after coffee and my afternoon favorite of Stok Iced Coffee – this has just a hint of flavor and is refreshing and not as heavy and sweet as a soft drink.
Wall Sconce: I have been wanting a new wall sconce for either side of the TV in the living room. Light fixtures can be pretty expensive and I stumbled upon this one on Amazon. They were incredibly budget friendly and I wasn’t expecting much when I ordered them. I am surprisingly pleased with the quality and the finish. They look gorgeous on the wall and the only criticism is that the lamp shade is not a really nice, thick linen. I am very happy with them overall though and considering just adding a linen fabric over to make them look a little more expensive up close. We didn’t wire these into the wall, I just used the Magic Light Trick from Nesting with Grace (essentially you buy remote control puck lights and rest them inside) and it works perfectly.
So that is about it. A few little purchases that made me smile over the last few weeks that you might like as well.
