Oh goodness is this delicious and it comes together in just minutes with ingredients you might already have on hand.
You can make this apple cider caramel sauce to drizzle on ice cream, over apples, pie or let’s be honest here- just eat it straight from the jar. This is a great gift idea too – just wrap this caramel sauce up in a basket with some fresh apples and a pint of vanilla ice cream. Everyone will love it.
Here is the recipe- this is super simple and just requires that you stir carefully to avoid burning.
- 1 cup fresh apple cider
- 1 cup brown sugar
- ½ cup butter
- ¼ heavy whipping cream
- Add 1 cup fresh apple cider to a sauce pan and simmer on medium for about 10 minutes until it reduces down to about ¼ cup. Stir occasionally to avoid burning.
- Add in sugar, butter and cream. Increase heat to medium-high and bring to a boil.
- Stir constantly for about 2 minutes- sauce should be thick and bubbly. Be careful not to burn!
- Remove from heat and transfer to a mason jar and allow to cool completely.
This will make about a cup of caramel sauce. If you like, you can add a sprinkling of salt or a sprinkling of vanilla to the caramel sauce right after removing it from heat. I tasted my cider and didn’t feel it was necessary.
And if you decide to make this recipe, please come back and let me know what you think! We gobbled this up- with sliced apples right away. A perfect treat for fall.

How much does the Apple Cider Caramel Sauce make? I want to try the recipe but would like to know how much it yields – I’m guessing about a 1/2 cup?
Hi Cee Jay,
About a cup of sauce. You can easily double it though. The mason jar you see at the bottom is basically what the recipe yields. Enjoy! 🙂
