nordstrom sale

Wheee!!!  It is finally time for the Nordstrom Anniversary Sale.

I love this sale every year and I thought I would mention a few tips and highlights in case it is new to you.  I will probably do a few different posts about this sale with some highlights for women, men and the kids and maybe even home items because it really is that good.

*This is the one time of the year where NEW items are heavily discounted.  This isn’t a sale on old Spring and Summer items, it is new stuff for fall.  So you can buy ahead a season and still get an amazing price.

*Not a bunch of junk no one wants anyway.  This is the best of the best– top designers, huge brands, trendy stuff.  Basically stuff that is never on sale.

*The sale officially starts July 13th and runs through August 6th.  If you are level 4 on your Nordstrom card (spending $10,000+ a year) you get to shop TODAY July 12th.  Lucky you!

*The pre-sale running July 13-July 20th is only available to Nordstrom card holders.  I have exactly one credit card I use and that is the Nordstrom card that I got just for this sale.

– If you do not have a Nordstrom card, no worries! You can sign up for one and get instant access once you are approved.  If you spend $100 the day you are approved, you get a $20 Nordstrom note to spend on a future purchase.

– You will accumulate points with each purchase that translate into Nordstrom notes.  Basically money back to use on whatever you want at the Rack or Nordstrom.  I just love getting those notes!

– Your Nordstrom card keeps track of everything you buy- so you don’t need to mess with receipts for returns and exchanges.

– Reimbursement for alterations.  Depending on what you spend per year you might get $100 or more in reimbursement when you have items altered at Nordstrom.  Don’t miss out on this service because custom alterations really make a piece perfect.

Ok so we have the basics down but where to begin?

*You can shop in store or online or for curbside pickup.  I tend to do both.  Nordstrom has an AWESOME service where you can order online, select curbside pickup and get your item like an hour later literally right in front of the store like a drive thru window.  This is a life saver if you are like me and not into dragging the kids into the store and dressing rooms.  Also it is awesome if you want to be sure to stick to a budget or a list 😉

To do the curbside pickup is amazing- you find the item you want and select the store:

You will go ahead and checkout as usual and then you will see a confirmation email.  Once your order is ready you will get a text alert from an actual human at the store (lol- I love this!), respond to the message and let them know when you will be there and they will meet you on the curb- you don’t even need to fight for a parking spot!  I did a ton of Christmas shopping just like this last year.  SO EASY!

Now go home, try things on, marinate over your purchases and you can return or exchange anything that doesn’t work.

I recommend doing this for stuff you super, duper want.  You can order multiple sizes or colors and get the items immediately with the curbside pickup.  Then try them on at your convenience with your real shoes or accessories or whatever at home and real lighting and then make decisions.

*Stuff sells out early.  I tend to start with shoes (boots in particular), move on to accessories (like handbags etc..), then jeans or cold weather items, athleisure stuff and finally beauty.  I start with my own stuff and then move to the husband and finally the girls.  Women’s stuff is obviously the stuff that tends to sell out first so I am not being greedy just strategic 😉

*Stuff might come back. And if something does sell out and you are bummed, keep checking back in because lots of people return things.  You might get lucky waiting a few days.

If you shop in store, the early access items are located by department behind some guazy sheer curtains.  You just walk through the curtains and the items included in the sale are located there.

And that is about it!

I hope you guys are as excited as I am!  Tomorrow I will have some highlights for you for each department that might help narrow down the options available.

Happy Shopping!
