Hey y’all! Hope your Spring was wonderful! Ours was and now I am trying to get things organized and ready for summer!
In California we seem to finish school much later than other areas- so my girls actually have another week of school. Here I am with my little baby on her Kindergarten Open House night last week. This time of year is so bittersweet. I love the little people they are becoming but so sad to watch them grow up. This little person brings so much joy and laughter to our lives- she goes to a private Christian school and they have prayer journals that the kids write in and one of the prayers that she wrote said “Dear Jesus, please help me stop stealing candy.” LOL! She isn’t a shoplifter but you better bet if there are treats in a cupboard I might find empty wrappers under her bed the next day.
Ha ha! The little treasures from these kids are just priceless.
So first off some may have noticed a little change to the design of the blog. I hadn’t made any updates to my design in a loooonnngg time- although I really want to! It is just one of those things that always seems to fall to the bottom of the list despite my best intentions.
So WordPress and Google made a few changes and suddenly my blog’s theme was not working properly. It was just old and tired and needed a serious update. So I had to make some changes unexpectedly and without a lot of planning or thought just to make sure the blog would actually work properly. There was a lot of behind the scenes stuff that had to be done- hundreds of posts had to be re categorized, images updated etc… So anyway- we are good to go now but I am still making some tweaks here and there and starting to finally work on a bit of a redesign to make things prettier for you.
On the night we switched over I was up until the wee hours of the morning working and when I woke up the next day I had this lovely comment on Facebook “I detest the new layout of your website.” So that was a nice comment to wake up to and please understand the site doesn’t look anything like I am hoping it will eventually so you will continue to see little changes here and there as I work through my list of things to improve. Hopefully you don’t detest the changes and thank you so much for your patience as things look a bit wonky here and there 😀
Oh and normally not having things completely done would be sending me into spasms of anxiety and I would probably be practically bathing myself in lavender and peace and calming essential oils— but see that pretty little face up there at the top? Last week while I was at the Dr. getting my older daughter’s knee x-ray’d and checked out (she is totally fine- whew!) that sweet little 6 year old decided to show her friends how to do a backflip off the monkey bars at school. She landed face first from about 8 feet in the air, snapped her glasses in half and scratched her face all up. The school was really concerned about a concussion so between the two kids I spent the entire day at the Doctor’s office. Fortunately all is well with both but that was the entire day I set aside for blog beautification. So needless to say blog beautification was pushed down on the list once again 😉
Here are a few things I have been loving lately:
Essie Collection for Target– I don’t get out much these days but I do get to Target about once a week it seems. I noticed these gorgeous new polishes from Essie you might check out. There is a line of 2015 Neons that are gorgeous you might look for the displays in store or you can check out the colors online here.
I mentioned this a long time ago but when I bother to polish my nails, (regardless of the brand of polish) I always use this Vinylux top coat because I swear it makes it last for a week. Apparently Essie is making a similar top coat now that is like an at home gel manicure so if you check that out please report back on your findings ;).
And speaking of Target, I have to mention this adorable Carnival line of bags and accessories and things that I just love. Everything is bright and cheerful and fun.
Have you checked out World Market lately? I love the summer things they have this year– I just posted on Instagram a little front porch redo.
The Fiji print from World Market is my favorite and these large pillows are only $17 right now. Plus I picked up that candle thing in the bottom corner and inside is a battery operated indoor/outdoor candle. Love everything they have right now and I am going back today to pick up this pizza pan grill topper so we can start grilling pizzas.
So that is about it for me. How is your summer getting started? Any big plans with the kids?
A few years ago I posted this Summer Fun List with 50 ideas for fun things to do with the kids. There is a blank one too for you to make up your own ideas. But don’t worry I have soooo many ideas of things I want to do with my girls this summer. I will be posting tons of things once they officially get done with school.
I hope you enjoy your Sunday and thank you as always for sharing a bit of your life with me!

I can’t imagine why someone would feel the need to be that ugly over a layout. None of us love dealing with glitches like that, but thankful you were able to fix it. Your blog is a blessing!

LOVE the updates on your site….and continue to love them. Having found your blog a lil bit after it started, it’s really fun to see how you’ve grown and changed. 🙂 I JUST printed out that 100 fun summer things list from a while back and my kids started checking off some “must dos” for summer! I loved your idea last year on the “make it Monday” etc with the Popsicle sticks for activities. Use it last year and it was AWESOME!! As always, you so totally rock! 🙂

Hi Charlene,
Adorable photo of you and your baby! I just wanted to encourage you to take your daughter’s words to heart. My daughter had the same thing (“stealing” candy from the cupboard and eating in secret, we’d find the wrappers later) and we tried to help her to see the heart issue behind it, confess and all was forgiven. =) God bless you and your sweet family.

Hi Oksana! Good to hear from you! Hope you are well 🙂

Thank you Karentina. My girls have been hounding me to do the sticks again 😛 I try to do something different each year and this year I keep asking them- what do you guys want to do and they have been begging for the jars with sticks again 😀

XOXO Dodi!

Caitlyn- she has some other gems in that little journal too but that was my favorite. Kindergarten is such a fun age. 🙂
