I have a really simple and fun idea for those of you that might have children celebrating Read Across America week next week or having Dr Seuss parties.
This is an inexpensive treat that is bright and colorful and fun and best of all so simple to put together. Plus I have some cute free printable favor tags that you can use for this idea or they can easily go on any party favor you decide to use. These would also be really cute on toothpicks for a cupcake topper.
I was in charge of classroom treats for my 2nd graders class party and I didn’t want to make something with too much sugar- so often these parties just have nothing but cakes and cookies and jello and treats. I also knew they were going to have time to watch a Dr Seuss movie in class- so what could be more perfect than popcorn?
I grabbed some cute little red popcorn boxes, made fun little One Fish Two Fish tags to go on the boxes and then found fish candy in red, yellow, green and blue. I sprinkled the fish on top of the popcorn and that was it! Done.
I made some quick tags myself and cut them with a punch and then added a blue scrapbook paper to the back and adhered those to the boxes. And I am attaching the little images that I used- you can cut these into circles, glue onto the box and that is it! Super easy.
I had my tags printed up at Staples on Cardstock and it was about $2.50 for 3 pages which is enough for a class of 24 kids.
Here is where I picked up everything for this project:
Red Popcorn Boxes: Party City $.99 for 5 (you can also get them online here)
Red Swedish Fish: Target $1 per bag
Blue, Yellow and Green Fish Candy: Bulk Bins at Party City $1 per $.15 candies
Popcorn: Skinny Pop Jumbo bags from Costco $4-5 each (I think)
And then you can download the free printable Dr Seuss party favor tags right here.
If you want something a little swankier- here is a second option for free printable labels. These are 2 inches wide and you can skip the extra step of using scrapbook paper as there is already a border included with the graphic.
Get this version with the border right here.
