I thought this fun Flower Cupcake idea courtesy of Family Fun magazine might be something fun to do with the kiddos. What a fun activity to do together for Mother’s Day weekend or over the summer!
They are pretty simple and I know my girls love doing stuff like this. You can do just one variety or make all of them for a pretty array of cupcakes.
Here is what you do:
Generously frost each cupcake. (I have a really easy Buttercream frosting recipe here).
Press the candies listed into the frosting as shown for each variety:

This would be a perfect inexpensive and fun activity for a slumber party or a birthday party. Our Girl Scout troop once did a cupcake decorating activity and the kids absolutely loved it.
I am thinking some of the candies you might be able to substitute for fruit instead? That blue and red cupcake in the center could very easily be raspberries instead of raspberry shaped candy and maybe kiwi for the center instead of a gumdrop.
I am thinking the sunshine cupcake would be fun with pineapple or maybe a carrot cake cupcake with slices of carrots on top?
