Here is another little annoying thing from Facebook. They seem to have changed everyone’s email address to be a generic Facebook email on the timeline. Ummm…. I didn’t even know I had a Facebook email so that is two thumbs down.
Here is a quick tip to get your stuff back to normal so people can actually contact you.
Click the “About” page on your Facebook profile. The one above is from MFA but my personal page is exactly the same.

Now you want to look on the right side and you should see a “contact info” box. Note the Facebook email address up there? No idea what happened there but I most definitely do not check that email so it does me no good.
Now the last thing to do is to decide if you want your email hidden or visible to people looking at your timeline.
If you DO want the email visible, there are little circles just to the right of the email addresses. You click the dropdown and select if you want your email visible or if you want it hidden.
All done.

And by the way… did you know Facebook only shows you a tiny fraction of what should go in your news feed? They are now requiring sites like mine to pay to reach the people that have liked the page.
Considering how many things I post per day this is not really feasible.
So one little tip you can try to get the info from the pages you have liked into your news feed:
- Go directly to the page you have liked, for example the MFA Facebook page
- Hover your mouse over the “liked” button. Don’t click anything just hover above it.
- A drop down will appear and you can click on “show in news feed”
And that will hopefully help you to see what is posted!
Another way to be sure you are seeing the things that are posted, is to “like” posts. That increases the interaction with the page and Facebook is more likely to show posts in your feed.
Here is how to like a post:

Just watch for a post you like to come through your feed- like the one above- and then click that little like at the bottom left. Easy peasy!
I can usually see how many people are getting the posts that I put up on Facebook and the number is cringe-worthy. (Typically not even 10% of people liking my page will see the posts I put up.)
Now we sit back and wait for the next change to come on the Facebook front.
I share your frustration with facebook 100%!!!
Your Facebook email is based on your public username. Email sent to this address goes to Facebook Messages.
Cindy, I know I have a Facebook email :). I was just kidding there. I personally would rather have my friends and family contact me via my personal email address and not an email that I will never check though.
I wondered what had happened to all your posts on fb. Frustrating! I don’t know why facebook feels like they should decide for us what we want to and what we don’t want to see.
I agree Melissa. It makes me insane. On a good day the reach for my posts is 6%. So on average about 2000 out of 50,000 people see what I post. Isn’t that just incredible?

My all friends in facebook contact me Email [email protected] please.
thanks for the facebook info. it took me a while to just locate the “about” section. i primarily use facebook to get coupons or deals from companies. i read your website directly often or the daily emails. i do like you on facebook.
I never see your Facebook posts anymore. I’ve “liked” you from long ago, you’re set to show in my news feed – but nothing for a few weeks now. The only way I know if you’ve posted something is if I happen to catch recently activity in the “ticker” on the ride side of my page or if I check your blog. What a bummer!
I need to update my facebook cause its not working. its not updating on my laptop
