I think most people are already familiar with Apartment Guide as a resource for finding apartment rentals across the United States. Many of the properties they feature also have floor plans, comprehensive photographs and other information to help you find the perfect rental space. In addition, Apartment Guide also has tips for entertaining and decorating.
And I was recently challenged by Apartment Guide to come up with fun, budget-friendly, entertaining ideas in smaller spaces.
I am actually planning a birthday party for my nephew so I decided to take on this challenge and see what I can come up with! We initially planned a backyard BBQ but the weather has changed those plans. Not to worry, we decided to just continue the celebration indoors! This is my nephew’s 21st birthday so we are having a Mexican Fiesta (his favorite food) and I am hoping to pull together a fun, vibrant party to celebrate.
To make this challenge more exciting, Apartment Guide is offering a $100 gift card giveaway to one My Frugal Adventures reader!
You will get a $100 American Express gift card that can be used anywhere you like. This giveaway will run through Wednesday at 4pm PST.

For my son’s upcoming birthday, we purchased (at 90% off) Valentines day card sets that included Toy Story 3 tattoos, suckers and pencils. The items didn’t have any Valentine’s day markings. We’ll be adding these to his goodie bags for a fraction of the price it would cost to buy these at a party store.
I find that i set a limit first for my party and shop around online to check prices of item i am looking for to save time and money running around to alot of different places. Plus it also helps to get ideas for your party as well. Google is such a great help.
I would love to plan a Beach party 🙂 with Flip flops, unbrellas, sand volleyball, beach balls, and have items like you would find at a board walk, like crab legs, shrimp, hot dogs, hamburgers, french fries with vinegar, cotton candy, ice cream, and etc. Be great for adults, and kids so everyone could have fun

I like to host a salad party where I supply the lettuce and guests bring their favorite toppings. It’s pretty low cost and low cal!
I subscribe to MFA and like you on FB.
I try to save money by first planning a a party and researching items i want for my party, figuring out what i can make to save money as oppose to buying, then using resources online like google to compare prices at different places. And sort it out buy buying online or in store and coupons, and things like that.
I think it would be fun to have a all american party. Celebrating on country (not just on July fourth or any holiday ) but for thanks for our troops and being grateful to live here in America. By having a red, white, blue, flagged themed party. With all american foods like hot dogs, hambergers, chips, preztels, soda and etc. Maybe a few fire works, horsehoes, bean bag toss, and things like that for entainment. And flagged decorated cake (using starwberries, and blueberries) Making little flag favors too…this is what i would like to have.

I try to stock up on sale items before I host a party. I always keep some appetizer stuff on hand so that when I throw together something last minute I don’t have to pay full price. Also, I make everything- never get it catered! I want to win!
I love to have this for my son’s upcoming 21st birthday!

I would like to have a Mardi Gras party.
I like to make my own decorations for parties. I also make a buffet style menu to save money. I usually use the crockpot to cook an inexpensive cut of meat to make tacos or enchiladas.
I always go to costco to buy in bulk for parties. Chips and things like that are such a good deal when having a party- and the big bags of food don’t sit around the house forever because people eat them up!

I would use this toward my 3 year old son and grandson’s birthday party that is coming up, yes you read that right I have 3 yr old son and a 3 yr old grandson, they are biologicaly grandsons but through majorly rough situations one is now my son. They will both be 3 in May, May 4th and 12th, we are hoping to have a Thomas the Train themed party as they are Both CRAZY over Thomas the Train.
I qualify for bonus entry #2 by subscribing.
potluck parties are economical at my house….

My favorite way to have a frugal party is to do potluck. Everyone has a signature recipe that they can make better than anyone. When you get a bunch of people together with their best dishes, it makes for one heck of a fun and delicious time!
PS: Make sure you have horchata for your mexican party!
