This post may contain affiliate links, please see my disclosure policy.

You can see Safeway’s coupon policy right here. Most stores will allow you to stack a manufacturer coupon with the store coupons that can be found in the weekly circulars. You will want to be sure to get a club card for Safeway to take advantage of the sale prices! Safeway sale prices tend to vary from region to region so you will always want to double check your local ad! Also, I do not have double coupons in my area so your prices are likely much better than mine!

Is safeway starting new ads on sunday now?!
or is it just because of the holiday?

or does this ad end on 1/12?

Jacob- who knows what they have going. I am assuming this is the supplemental ad and there will be a new one breaking Wed. This was a big ad- usually Sunday has a small one. It is likely because of the holiday. My ad says Sunday- Saturday.

    hi charlene,
i just wanted to vent to you: i went to safeway this morning and the checker wouldn’t accept any of my coupons for the free items (the greek yogurt, the tuscan butter, and the nivea lip balm). have you had any problems at your safeway? i’m thinking of trying again tomorrow–i think it just depends on the checker.

Mary- I don’t get much trouble but I think I am old and crusty and they know better than to mess with me 😉

I guess for you, maybe you need to call and ask to talk to a manager to nip this in the bud. You can point them to the coupon policy which says (item #1) they can adjust a coupon down.

    http://www.safeway.com/IFL/Grocery/Coupons-Policy

Perhaps you can try to explain to him that you’d hate to have to contact the corporate office and complain and you would be very sorry to have to take your business to another store but you will if they won’t comply with their own coupon policy.

I just try to be very nice and polite and resolve things in a friendly way. Also, I am assuming you have a few items and didn’t grab up 76 butters and a cart of yogurt 😛

If that doesn’t work I guess you have to decide if you want to shop at that store or try to find somewhere else that will work with you. I use U Scan a lot because it just is easier for me and actually that is where I bought those items last time. It is super important to pick the right cashier. I avoid anyone that looks like they are going to give me a terrible time and I remember the stinkers for each store as well 🙂

    Hi Charlene,
I was in Safeway today and I found Capri suns for .99 cents a box. You need to buy 5. I’ll bet they are still on sale through tomorrow 1/4/11. I bought 10.

Stacey- thanks that was in the matchups last week. The sale carried over a few days and this was limited to just 2 regions- not the entire country.

Did a shop yesterday and went through without a hitch. Oatmeal was buy 2 (at 4.99 each) get 3 free! Also noticed that the pop tarts were BOGO free…I bought 4 (2 of which were free) and a cat printed for a free gallon of milk as well as the cat for the fruit snacks and granola bars! All total I got 5 boxes of oatmeal, 4 boxes poptarts, 5 boxes fruit snacks, 5 boxes granola bars, 4 cans progresso soup, 4 Greek yogurts, Tropicana OJ, and a 12 pk mini waters for $35, then got $6.50 in cats and a cat for free milk….so basically got it all for about $25. 🙂

I just came back from Safeway as I needed to get my money back for two Johnsonville sausages I was charged $2.99 each instead of $1.99 each. After some persuading I was able to get the person to give me a full refund since I was charged incorrectly. I then decided to get 5 more fruit gushers since I had one additional $1.00 off coupon with me. The checker wouldn’t take the coupon and called over a manager who also said (in front of a FULL line of people) that they couldn’t take my coupon as it didn’t “scan”. I explained it was a coupon I printed from Bettycrocker.com and he tried again and said sorry I can’t take these coupons. I was SO annoyed! I called corporate but they did nothing except apologize and state they do take internet coupons but if they can’t scan the coupon or if the number won’t take they aren’t suppossed to accept it. I think I will stick with Target-have had not one problem with them accepting coupons (just being charged for stuff I didn’t buy though!!!).

I went 2 times to Safeway today. My first trip I spent (Out-of-pocket) was $11.43 for 5 boxes of Fruit Snacks & 4 boxes (because I’m a newbie & later learned) of the Nature Valley Bars & 4 boxes of Rice-a-roni. I then got $5.00 in rewards cash. So that made it only about $6.43 (break down price per unit was $0.49 a box!) So I then went home & called a few friends for use of their printer coupons as I max’ed mine. I went back with my $5.00 in rewards cash & coupons. I then grabbed 5 boxes of Fruit snacks & 5 boxes of Nature Valley Bars I paid $3.80 O.O.P. & got back $6.50 in rewards cash. So I basically got PAID $2.70 for taking 10 boxes off Safeways shelves! (The break down price per unit I MADE $0.27 per box!) Awesome! Thanks for the step by step help! This was my 1st couponing trip & I’m excited!

There is a coupon you can print from Redplum.com for buy 3 Rice-A-Roni and get 1 Pasta Roni free – up to $2 value. The way the coupon is coded (at least at my Safeway) is that if you buy all 4 it takes $2 off. So with the current sale at 88 cents per box, that means with the coupon you can get it for 38 cents per box.
