I recently got the chance to check out the Keurig Special Edition Brewing System and Keurig was kind enough to give a brewing system to one lucky MFA reader.
I had heard so many raves about the Keurig machines that I couldn’t wait to check it out. I happen to love coffee. I am one of those people that sings the Folger’s song every morning..“the best part of waking up..is coffee in my cup!” And I have had a Tassimo machine for awhile which I adore.
Now I am not going to tell you that these coffeemakers are frugal. This Special Edition coffeemaker is currently $150 on Amazon. You also need to buy the K-Cups which go on sale for $15 for 48 cups.
If you can fit this into your budget I have to tell you these machines just make wonderful cups of coffee. I ran out of Tassimo disks a few weeks ago and went back to my regular old pot coffee and the difference was astounding.
For me the major advantage to the Tassimo is that you can make espresso beverages. So I can make cappuccinos, Chai Lattes, Caramel Macchiatos etc.. in addition to regular coffee and teas.
But what I noticed about the Keurig is that it is much sleeker looking on the counter. Also it seems to me that the Keurig K-cups are much less expensive than the Tassimo Disks. I think for those that just love really good coffee or tea the Keurig is a great answer. One other advantage to the Keurig is that you can buy the reusable filter and grind and brew your own coffee- which might be a little less expensive.
One other thing I just love about these machines is how neat and clean they are. I have to refill the water about once a week (more for the Tassimo) and then just pop the cartridge in and done! For some reason actually brewing a pot of coffee always used to seem like such a massive production first thing in the morning.

I just recently got a great deal on a nice Cuisinart coffee maker (that you posted about) but I agree, making coffee first thing in the morning is a chore. I love to experiment with all the different coffee beans at Trader Joes..still haven’t found “the one”.
I always set up our coffee pot the night before. It has a timer so if we know what time we are getting up it’s ready when we are! We buy whole bean coffee and grind it ourselves too…
I like to brew my coffee in a Gevalia coffee maker (mostly because I received it free). I have an old espresso maker that I have not mastered in pulling the perfect shot. This machine sounds like it would help me in that! Have a great day!

We have a timer on our current coffee pot so we always set it up the night before to be ready when we are. We also buy whole bean coffee and grind it ourselves. I miss when my brother used to work @ Starbucks and get us cheap coffee by the pound! lol
I make a cup of coffee or 2 using my Bodum French Press.

Since becoming more frugal, we basically get whatever coffee is the cheapest *whimper* but since I use far too much creamer has helped!
I start every morning with a cup off freshly ground coffee from my french press. I’m not super happy with it as of late, so i’d really like to try out this way of making coffee. You’ve made it sound fantasic over the last many months I’ve been reading this site.

I make instant coffee with Maxwell House French Vanilla powder and milk. I like my routine and if I win the Keurig, it will be for my mom for mother’s day.
I just make Starbucks House Blend at home and have some liquid Coffeemate in it. I’ll change the flavors every now and again. Simple but good 🙂
I make my own chocolate syrup every week from powered coco. Then I use a Mr. Coffee expresso machine every morning to make expresso and warm up some milk (with foam) to create a home made mocha every day. In the summer I don’t heat the milk and add ice to make an Iced Mocha.
I am a tea drinker – I start of with English Breakfast in the morning and love Chais in the evening.
I make Dunkin Donuts every morning with my Gevalia pot. I would loooove to try out a Keurig!

I, too, am hooked to my Tassimo, but have thought about making the switch…I use Gevalia Signature Crema w/ Cinnamon Vanilla Coffeemate. Mmmm…makes it worth getting out of bed…
I currently use a hand-me-down Mr. Coffee to brew my morning coffee. It works well, but the automatic turn-off feature no longer works so I always have to double check that I turned it off before I leave the house. I would love to win this Keurig! Thanks for the awesome give-away.

My husband sets up the coffe to brew in the morning with the timer. He likes his cofee VERY strong so most of the time I have to add a bit more creamer that I’d like. It would be nice to have my own perfect cup of coffee 🙂

I became addicted to coffee while in grad school. Now, I score a major migraine if I don’t have 2-3 cups before noon. I’ve always liked the single-serve idea for a little bit of a fresh cup in the afternoons, and having a Keurig would be great for my classroom (I teach high school history) for a little pick me up when I’m having a hard day.

I recently snagged the Cuisnart you posted about back in March and we enjoy coffee out of it every morning. I’m very covetous of the Keurig though and would love to have one!
My husband used to spend SOOOO much money at Starbucks. I finally got him a coffeemaker from Gevalia, and now I drink as much coffee as he does! We’ve been going through the cheap Starbucks blends we’d gotten from Target, and my MIL got my husband a subscription to Pete’s Coffee, so we’ve been drinking that too.

I love coffee…but usually don’t get to it until I’ve gotten the kiddos off to school. Then I can really enjoy it. I really like having a cup in the afternoon as well!
I make my coffee with coupons, of course! I check the best prices and stock up, and then use a coffee maker that has a carafe to keep it warm all day.

I love my coffee back.
My husband makes the coffee when he wakes up at 5:30. When he goes back into the kitchen after showering he puts my portion in a thermos because I hate burnt coffee. Takes his on the road and I drink mine while getting ready for work. The Keurig system sounds wonderful.

I love coffee. I swear I can not wake up until I get my cup of coffee. I have a Delongi coffee maker that I got at Target on clearence a while back. I can’t stand it. It makes luke warm coffee. I would loev to try the keurig. My best friend has one and I love the coffee.

My morning is crazy getting everyone off to school & work. I love to enjoy a couple of cups of coffee on my porch to really start my day. Unfortunately, we have an ancient coffeemaker that my frugal husband doesn’t want to get rid of until it wears out – ha. So I enjoy mediocre coffee instead.
Since my schedule is wild, I pretty much make coffee at whatever time I am allotted! I’ve never had coffee from a Keurig or Tassimo before. Sounds lovely.
I use a Cusinart and always make Dunkin’ Donuts coffee! YUM! 🙂
I make coffee the night before and set it to brew at 6 am, so it is ready when I get up. I hate making the coffee the night before (it really does seem like quite the production), but I love waking up to freshly brewed coffee!
