TRU toy story

I gave you two ideas for Toy Story deals HERE.  I went to Toys R us tonight to check out the pre order and wanted to let you know the deal is actually much better!

Now here is the simplest option:

Buy 2 Toy Story Blu Ray Combo Packs for $16.99 each= $33.98
Best case is to use (2) $10 coupons for Toy Story*
Final Price: $13.98 for both!

If you want to get a way better deal than try this:

Buy 2 Toy Story Blu Ray Combo Packs for $16.99- you need to PREORDER them today or tomorrow only and pay a $5 deposit. Get the form that looks just like this in your store:

toy story preorder

NOW that form also gives you a $15 credit to use on a 3rd Disney DVD or Blu Ray of your choice. PLUS there is an additional $5 off Disney movies that comes off automatically at the register. (I can only confirm that it is working today- I do not know if it will work tomorrow).
So if you buy a 3rd DVD at $19.99 you get it FREE!

Here is what you do:

1. Go in to TRU and get the form pictured above.
2. Select whatever movie you want from Disney. (I chose Bug’s Life at $19.99)
3. At the register you will pay a $5 preorder deposit for each of the Toy Story Combo packs

Pay deposit for each movie =$10
Buy 3rd movie of your choice = $19.99
Subtotal: $29.99
Get a $15 discount on a Disney movie for preordering Toy Story = $14.99
Get an instant $5 off for buying a Disney movie = $9.99
PAY $9.99 total and you will leave with whichever movie you selected plus your receipt for Toy Story
So the 3rd movie you selected is FREE!

Go back on Tuesday when Toy Story is released with your receipt.
Pay $16.99 for each movie = $33.98
You already paid a deposit of $10 so that is deducted= $23.98
Use (2) of the $10 off coupons*
Your final price is $3.98

So the grand total for Toy Story 1, Toy Story 2 and the 3rd movie you selected is $13.98!!!

TRU princess

NOW, the best possible deal is if you select Princess and the Frog as your free movie.

Go in and preorder the two combo packs of Toy Story ($5 deposit per movie) = $10
Buy Princess and the Frog on DVD ($19.99) = $29.99
Get $15 off instantly since you are preordering Toy Story = $14.99
Get $5 off for buying a Disney movie = $9.99
Use a $5 off Princess and Frog DVD coupon HERE = $4.99
In addition they are offering a free jewelry box when you buy Princess and The Frog. So your total of $4.99 includes the jewelry box and the DVD which you leave the store with!

THEN go back on Tuesday when Toy Story is released.

Buy 2 Combo packs at $16.99= $33.98
You already paid a deposit of $10 which is deducted = $23.98
Use (2) $10 coupons = $3.98

So the net result is the jewelry box, both Toy Story movies, and Princess and the Frog for a grand total of $8.97!!

Want to make the deal even better? You can select TWO of the $5 rebates I told you about HERE and HERE for Princess and the Frog! So in the end you could potentially make a $1 profit to buy everything above!

*IMPORTANT NOTE:

To get the $10 off coupons you must  have an old Toy Story VHS or DVD and you can log into your Disney Movie Rewards account HERE and enter the UPC and get $10 off coupons!  Now I can not post the UPC codes so if you do not have them, you can use the $5 off coupons HERE and you will still get an excellent deal.

Don’t forget each Toy Story Combo pack will come with a movie ticket to see Toy Story 3 this summer for free!

I went and did this tonight and asked when I have to use the $15 by and the cashier told me there is a date on the card. So when I couldn’t find one on the card I asked the customer service employee and she told me that if there was no date then it must not expire. When I got home I was looking at the card and couldn’t figure out how it worked. So I called and they said I was supposed to get it when I pre-ordered the movies. I am going in tomorrow to straighten it out. But very frustrated that none of their employees know about their promotions.

I was at TRU last night and bought the Princess and the Frog Blu-Ray/DVD combo which was on sale for $26.99, pre-ordered both Toy Story’s, used a $10 off coupon and a $5 off coupon and ended up spending $2.95 for “Princess and the Frog” and have $10 down on deposit for Toy Story 1&2 and only paid $2.95 – it was GREAT!

  3. Cori says

    03/21/2010 at 12:15 AM

If you have older copies of both 1&2 to print the $10 coupon for each, the final price will be $3.98 for the three movies. That’s a great deal.

  4. Charlene says

    03/21/2010 at 12:26 AM

Cori you mean $3.98 plus the $10 deposit or did I miss a step somewhere?

  5. Cori says

    03/21/2010 at 12:29 AM

No, I messed up my math. I was about to come correct myself. I forgot the original number was the $5 coupon and I subtracted $20 for the two $10.

  6. Charlene says

    03/21/2010 at 12:46 AM

Ok thanks Cori- BUT if you buy Princess and the Frog- you get the free jewelry box and you use the $5 coupon that is $8.98 for 3 movies PLUS the jewelry box. CRAZY good!

  7. Alicia says

    03/21/2010 at 6:03 AM

This expired yesterday, but here is what I did:

Bought Princess & The Frog – rang up initially for $34.99, but ended up being $26.99
Got FREE kissing frogs (value of $19.99), even though the movie was really only $26.99 and dvd’s were not supposed to count towards getting the free frogs.
Pre-ordered both Toy Story Movies for $10
Got discount of $5 and $15 for pre-ordering the movies and buying a participating dvd (Princess and the Frog). Don’t know why the additional $5, but I did not complain!
Used a $10 off coupon for Princess and the Frog
Total with discounts and coupons came to around $7 plus tax!!

Now, on Tuesday, I have $5 towards each Toy Story movie and I have the $10 off coupons because I own them on VHS and got the better coupons. So, on Tuesday, I will only pay $1.99 each plus tax!!!

Total for Princess & The Frog, Toy Story, Toy Story II (all 3 of these are the blu-ray/dvd combo packs) + the kissing frogs is around $11 plus tax!!!!! I was SOOOO excited about it yesterday! Sorry though, this deal only went through yesterday 🙁

  8. Amy H. says

    03/21/2010 at 7:22 AM

    My Plan:

    Preorder TS1 & TS2 Blu-ray combo packs at $16.99 ea
get the $15 off any Disney $19.99+ TRU discount
pay $10 OOP for my deposit

Buy The Princess and the Frog Blu-Ray combo pack ($26.99?)
    get the jewelry box freebie
    Use the $10 off P&F manufacturer’s coupon
use the $15 promo mentioned above
    (and possible $4.99 overlapping promo?)
IF the overlapping promo applies, i should be running into overage, in which case, i will buy a $10 TRU gift card for an OOP cost of approx $7 + tax

Go back on TUES to pick up TS1 & TS2 that i preordered
    balance due: $23.98
    use $10 TS1 upgrade Q
    use $10 TS2 upgrade Q
pay $3.98 on my TRU giftcard purchased in previous step. I will have a balance remaining of approx $4.50 (when accounting for tax)

get 2 packages of Band-Aids at Target
    submit the P&F/BandAid $5 rebate

Submit the codes from TS1 and TS2 Blu-Ray combo packs to score 2 TS3 in-theater movie passes!

  9. Cori says

    03/21/2010 at 7:39 AM

I was looking at TRU’s ad today. The movies will also include a ticket offer for Toy Story 3. So that adds to the value.

  10. Kelly S says

    03/21/2010 at 9:16 AM

Can someone share a the UPC for an older copy of toy story? Thanks!

  11. Cali says

    03/21/2010 at 9:19 AM

I’m a little confused…. how does the $10 toy story coupons look with the pre-order?

  12. Cali says

    03/21/2010 at 9:20 AM

Do you go back and pick up all 3 movies or just the 2?

  13. Charlene says

    03/21/2010 at 9:22 AM

Well it would be an extra $10 off Cali. So as I said it would be $13.98 total. So $10 is your preorder cost and $3.98 total when you go to pay!

  14. Charlene says

    03/21/2010 at 9:28 AM

I think you can still do it Alicia. The $15 says on my form it is good through 3/22. Instead of the bonus $5 (if that ended yesterday) just use the $5 Princess and the Frog coupon. Instead of the frogs you get a jewelery box. So it still works out to a great deal.

  15. Charlene says

    03/21/2010 at 10:02 AM

Cali you should get the 3rd movie up front. Now make sure you do that because I don’t know if the extra $5 off will work when you go back Tuesday. Here is what I did- I bought Bug’s Life DVD and came home with that last night. My grand total was $10.49 that was for Bugs Life and the $5 preorder charge for both movies. Now when I go back the movies are $16.99. So you take that $10 coupon (or the $5 one) PLUS you already paid $5 for the deposit. So the movies are $1.99 each!! Get it?

The promo doesn’t make sense because the Disney DVDs are $19.99. Now I paid $10.49 for the DVD after the $15 credit and $5 overlapping credit. The $10.49 was just the two $5 deposits- so Bug’s Life was FREE. So I guess you could just never go back and buy your preorder and you still got half off a DVD.

  16. Anna Maria says

    03/21/2010 at 10:20 AM

I know Charlene can’t post the UPCs but this one worked for me:

    786936138047

You just enter that where it says enter a code on the right side and then the banners came up for each movie. I had trouble in IE but Mozilla they printed just fine.

  17. Cori says

    03/21/2010 at 10:42 AM

I just came back from TRU. I pre-ordered both Toy Story movies and bought The Princess and the Frog, which came with the free jewelry box. I left the store having spent $5.03.

When I go back on Tuesday, I have the two $10 coupons. The movies will cost $6.99 each after the coupon, but I already “paid” $5 each today. Therefore, I will only have to pay $1.99 each ($3.98 total) on Tuesday.

My final cost for the three movies will be $9.25. Plus, when Toy Story 3 comes out, I’ll be able to see it for free.

  18. Charlene says

    03/21/2010 at 10:45 AM

YEAH!!!! Ok thanks so much for confirming!! So the extra $5 off worked for you too? Awesome! Awesome!

  19. Christy says

    03/21/2010 at 11:53 AM

Wew….just reading this is exhausting me!!!!

  20. Charlene says

    03/21/2010 at 12:08 PM

It is simple Christy. Go to TRU. Get a great deal 😉

  21. Lisa says

    03/21/2010 at 12:20 PM

I can’t figure out where to enter my UPC code from my Toy Story VHS. I followed the link on the site and when I enter my login info, I’m lead to a place where I can’t enter the code. I keep clicking on everything on the page and nothing is working. Please help! :o) I really want to save the $10! Thanks!

  22. Charlene says

    03/21/2010 at 12:29 PM

Lisa, Anne Marie is exactly right.

    1. Log into your account or register
    2. enter the UPC in the orange box on the right side that says ENTER CODE.
    3. There should be some sort of banner that pops up to get the coupon.

  23. Anne says

    03/21/2010 at 12:39 PM

I already got The Princess and the Frog, but I was able to pick up Mary Poppins on DVD for FREE when I reserved TS 1 & 2. 😀 That one has been on my “wish list” so I’m thrilled! Plus, I have the $10 coupons, so when I pick them up on Tuesday I’ll have spent a total of $14.98 for all three!!! Thanks so much for this GREAT deal, Charlene!

There are also some other Disney DVD’s that would make for great deals with the $5 off. I didn’t pay too much attention because I don’t want any of them, but they had a few Hannah Montana and Wizards of Waverly Place DVD’s for $6.99. The $5 off deal wasn’t advertised anywhere in my store, so I’m not sure what exactly it applies to, but if it works on those you could get a great deal for Easter baskets or to stock your gift closet!

  24. adriane says

    03/21/2010 at 12:47 PM

I couldn’t find the 5 dollar Princess and the Frog coupon, I only found the 10.00 blu ray coupon.

  25. Charlene says

    03/21/2010 at 1:17 PM

Adriane I revised the post and you can see the link for the coupon is right there toward the bottom.

  26. Charlene says

    03/21/2010 at 1:18 PM

YEP! This is a crazy good deal and I hope it is clear now so every takes advantage!

  27. Kelly says

    03/21/2010 at 1:50 PM

I’m so excited to get these movies! Perfect for Easter. Now you said you have to preorder by today or tomorrow. Were you meaning by Sunday or by Monday? I saw you posted this last night so just want to be sure I will still be able to do it Monday. Thanks MFA!!!

  28. Kelly says

    03/21/2010 at 1:56 PM

oh and can you do it more than once since you can print out at least two copies of the coupons?

  29. Kimberly says

    03/21/2010 at 2:34 PM

Charlene, is the pre-order only available Saturday and Sunday? I am not able to go until Monday, will I still be able to do it? I tried to read the words on the pre-order form you took a picture of, but didn’t see anything about that. I will check back for your response, but if you could e-mail me too, that would be awesome. THANKS! I love your blog it is the BEST for deals!!! And I would be lost, and more poor, without you!

I went to TRU this afternoon and did this deal (in CT). I got the Toy Story 1 & 2 preorder for $5 each. Then I bought the Princess & the Frog for free ($15 off for preordering and $5 credit for who knows what) BUT I couldn’t use the $5 MQ because they said the movie was already free…oh well!….Oh and Disney Channel movies are advertised as 25% off., so I bought a MM Clubhouse one, but for some reason it rang up 50% off ($7.49) I asked why (not that I was complaining) and the cashier said because I bought 2 Disney movies (I have no idea if that is true or if she felt the need to say something….LOL). Oh and at my TRU they said you get the free jewelry box with ANY princess movie.

  38. Lisa says

    03/21/2010 at 5:22 PM

Thank you! I entered my code and got the $10 off coupons for TS 1 & 2. I went to TRU and got “A Bug’s Life” for free! :o) I’m telling everyone that I know who has kids about this deal!

    03/21/2010 at 5:23 PM

YAY! Thanks so much for posting this! I live in S. cali (on the central coast) and I went to TRU today for this deal. Got the movies pre-ordered, and bought Princess and the Frog + the free jewelry box… and I only paid $5.52!!! I will go back on Tuesday for the Toy Story movies! What an AWESOME deal!!

  40. Holly says

    03/21/2010 at 5:34 PM

I was cutting out my $10 coupons and noticed on the coupon it specifically says blu-ray combo but nothing about dvd. However, the ad that printed under the coupons says valid for blu-ray or dvd combos. I still have not given up on my dvd player yet so i was hoping to get them on dvd. But, the coupon and the ad don’t really match up? Do you have any suggestions? I guess I could just get the blu-ray combos for sometime down the road after I retire the dvd?!?!

  41. Rei says

    03/21/2010 at 5:44 PM

Do you know the difference between the 2 options on the pre-order coupon. It says Blu-ray/DVD combo and the other says DVD/Blu-ray combo…I hope they are essentially the same thing b/c I’m not sure which one the cashier scanned.

  42. Holly says

    03/21/2010 at 5:47 PM

Sorry. I think I just figured out the combo pack means you get both the dvd and the blu-ray. Hope you have a nice vacation!!!

  43. heather says

    03/21/2010 at 5:58 PM

~ok, i went today, and pre-ordered the two toy story movies, i chose the princess, and the frog dvd combo pack which was $34.99, i used a $10 0ff coupon i had, and got $15 off with the promo from the pre-order…so i paid $20 for the pre-order, and princess dvd combo pack..which came with a free SMALL jewelry box….not too bad i guess!!…and i have the two $10 off coupons, as well as two $5 off coupons for toy story, and toy story 2…does anyone know if i can use all 4 together?

  44. heather says

    03/21/2010 at 6:20 PM

    ~btw..there was no extra $5 off …

  45. Charlene says

    03/21/2010 at 6:21 PM

Heather the $5 might be DVDs only and you bought the Blu Ray.

  46. heather says

    03/21/2010 at 6:34 PM

~ahh i see…do you know if i can use two $10 coupons, and 2 $5 coupons on the toy story dvds?? it would be a total of %15 off each…

  47. heather says

    03/21/2010 at 6:34 PM

    ~$15 that is..lol

  48. Charlene says

    03/21/2010 at 6:41 PM

No- that would be stacking manufacturer coupons and you can’t do that. Just one coupon per movie.

  49. heather says

    03/21/2010 at 6:46 PM

    ~ok then, ty!! 🙂

  50. Rachel says

So so so excited! Went into Toys R Us, and pre-ordered the 2 combo packs, and got Ponyo for free!!! For some reason when I went to buy Ponyo when it was released Wal-mart and Target were sold out (so I couldn’t use the $10 off Q.)… Long story short, everything happens for a reason. What a deal! And we will be able to see Toy Story 3 for “free”.
