Help for Haiti: Comment to Donate!

Yesterday I posted some ideas HERE for everyone to donate to this terrible disaster in Haiti.  My husband and I usually have a certain amount of money each year that we set aside for charitable donations.  It is never enough but I am a firm believer that when everyone contributes a little it can make a huge difference.

Our family discussed a personal donation yesterday and then Crystal came up with the great idea to get all the blogging community involved.

So I am totally on board!  I will be donating .25 for every comment left on this post until midnight tonight (remember I am Pacific time) up to $300.  I know some people just simply don’t have anything to give and trust me I have been there too.

But if you can spare a little extra than money is really the bottom line to helping in these awful situations.

The best and fastest way to do that is to head over HERE to the Red Cross.

Or you can donate by sending a text on your cell phone “Haiti” to 90999 and $10 will be added to your next cell phone bill.

You can also text YELE to 501501 to donate $5 to the Yele Haiti organization.

EDITED:  Thank you everyone for all the comments!  You guys raised just under $40 by simply commenting today!  I have donated $300 to the relief effort via the Red Cross.  And thank you to everyone that was able to contribute in any way either via Swagbucks, commenting or your own donations!

    Thanks for doing this. My dad is on his way over there right now with his search and rescue team. It is absolutely heartbreaking.

    What a great idea! I hope you inspire others to follow suit. I also want to challenge others to donate some of their stock piles. I know that here they are collecting non-perishable food, cleaning supplies and personal care items to send to Haiti. Check your communities for ways to send such items that will be much needed in the days ahead.

    I heard on the radio today that over $10 million has been donated just through texting. This is so encouraging. Glad to see bloggers like yourself taking advantage of this opportunity as well!
