Walgreen’s Shoppers: Filler Idea

I know a lot of you are a little confused about fillers and I just made it to Walgreens yesterday and found a great example. Since you can only have one coupon per item you need to find a dirt cheap “filler” if you also want to use a Register Reward. That way you have an equal number of items to coupons (since a Register Reward is a coupon).
.
A lot of people like to use the .33 caramels by the registers. I also scout out the candy/food section and have found .25 crackers or gum on clearance.
.
I spotted these water bottles yesterday marked down to .49. They have samples and coupons inside- including a little box of crayons. This would be a great filler item as it is only .49 and is actually useful to have on hand.

Most of my local Walgreens had 75% off clearance items last weekend. I found .05 cent pencils and .10 cent seed packets to use as fillers. I also found lots of freezer pop boxes that were originally $2.00 for .25 cents. Wish I'd bought more of those.

Also, in the Halloween aisle, I found little plastic cups and various other little plastic things for .39.

today I used the .29 cent hersheys bars. I never mind buying chocolate!

Sorry, but I am confused. When I went to Walgreens the other day, they would only let me use 1 RR/transaction. Can you usually use more?

Yes you can use more as long as your coupon to item ratio matches. Honestly these stores just make up a new policy every week. You might start by reading my Walgreens FAQs in the very top under Drugstore 101. If that keeps happening you might try calling Walgreens customer service or ask to speak to the manager of the store. (or just find another store).

Thanks for the answer, Charlene. It was the manager. Maybe I'll see if I can find something on their web site and print it to take to the store.

Try sending a note here and ask for a written coupon policy or ask them about using more than 1 RR at a time:
