Frugal Friday: My Frugal Exercise Secret.

Here is my frugal secret for fitting in exercise with my toddler: playaways. I check out several playways at a time from my library- they are tiny little books on tape. They weigh nothing and easily fit in your pocket. You provide headphones and a battery. This makes exercise so much more fun as I can pack my toddler into the stroller and we take 30 minute walks everyday. I usually wait until her mid afternoon snack time and she gets her snack while mommy gets to actually “read” a book. I usually choose something light that doesn’t require a lot of concentration so I can engage her during our walks as well. I point out school buses, animals, lawn mowers- whatever we pass by so that she is also getting the benefit of experiencing new things. The 30 minutes usually winds up being 40-60 minutes because time flies when you are absorbed in a book. I am proud to say I have only gained 15 lbs so far at 32 weeks pregnant so our walks are definitely helping!

I love these books for my marathon baking sessions or cleaning days. Tuck them in your pocket and you can zone out and you might actually look forward to cleaning the bathroom!
