I thought I’d put together some of the books on my TBR pile just in case some of you might also be looking for new books to read this Spring. Here are a few light hearted novels, historical fiction and thrillers that I am looking forward to reading.
I have heard such great things about this book, I am really looking forward to reading it. This is the story of Molly, a maid at a 5 star hotel. She thrives under the predictability and routine of her job until one day Molly finds a dead body in a room. When Molly is considered a suspect in the case, it is up to her friends to help her piece together who the real murderer is.
The Paris Apartment by Lucy Foley
This is the story of Jess, a young woman who finds her life falling apart. After losing her job, she gets in touch with her half brother and asks to stay with him in Paris. He reluctantly agrees and once Jess arrives, she finds the apartment empty and her brother is missing. It is up to Jess to unravel the secrets and figure out where her brother is.
This sounds like a perfect read if you are looking for something that is fun and easy. It is the story of Nora, a tough literary agent that takes an extended summer vacation with her little sister in North Carolina. She is hoping for a charming, small town summer but instead keeps bumping in to Charlie, an editor that Nora has known and disliked for years…
The Magnificent Lives of Marjorie Post by Allison Pataki
This is a perfect book for those that love historical fiction or if you are getting into the tv series The Gilded Age. It is the story of Marjorie Post, heiress to the Post cereal fortune. Marjorie’s life started with humble beginnings and evolved into philanthropy, treasure hunting, entertaining Presidents and becoming the wealthiest woman in the United States.
I Must Betray You by Ruta Sepetys
I always enjoy this author so I am thrilled to see she has a new book out. This is a historical thriller about communist Romania in the 1980’s as communism was collapsing in Eastern Europe. It explores the citizen spy network that plagued the nation under a cruel and tyrannical dictator. These novels are considered young adult so perfect to recommend to teens.
One Italian Summer by Rebecca Serle
This is such an original concept and sounds like a really fun book to read to escape for a bit. It is the story of Katy, who loses her Mother just before a special Mother-Daughter trip to Italy. Katy winds up taking the trip alone to the place where her Mother grew up prior to meeting Katy’s father. Upon her arrival, Katy meets a 30 year old version of her Mother. Before marriage and before children and spends the summer getting to know her.
This is an interesting and unique take on the counter culture movement of the 1960’s but you will have to wait until April 5th to read it. It is the story of small town Claire, who finds herself swept into a hippie lifestyle in Morocco. She befriends socialite and heiress Tabitha Getty and is suddenly plunged into a world of excess and mystery.
My Friend Anna by Rachel DeLoache Williams
This is the story of Anna Delvey, a con-artist in New York posing as a German heiress. Anna lives a fabulous life jet-setting and enjoying all the finest things, all the while scamming people and leaving a trail of debt behind her.
I just started watching My Friend Anna on Netflix which is the made for tv version of this story. Now that I started watching the show, I am dying to find out the real story of Anna Delvey.
