Oh boy… holiday gift guide for kids is here! This is always a fun one. I try to find things beyond what you see in every toy catalog and beyond all the electronics the kids want. I tried to hit a fit different price points and hopefully find things that get used year round- not just the 10 minutes after the kids open the gift.
Here goes:
Hey Clay Kit. These are great for artistic kids- the clay is a lightweight version of playdoh that dries firmly. This kit comes with an app that teaches kids how to make a variety of dinosaurs. You can also choose from aliens, birds, bugs or I picked up the animals kit for my daughter. We have had similar kits to this in the past and I have always been surprised at how much time my 12 year old invests in making these.
Fit Bit Tracker. Those of you with athletes might want to consider some sort of fit bit or smart watch and I have a few recommendations. My daughter loves to wear my Apple watch on her runs and to soccer practice. She can track her work rate and her speed and distance and it has really given her a lot of confidence this year. This Fit Bit is very affordable and water proof and will track some things an athlete might be interested in. A step up from this option is this Smart Watch that tracks mileage, sleep and so on or if you have a serious athlete, Apple has recently dropped the prices on iWatches and you can find an Apple watch here for $199. I did see these as low as $169 for the Series 3 but I think they are selling out so you might keep checking back at Amazon or try Target here.
Harry Potter Lego Kit. I am just so happy to see the Harry Potter Legos available again. This set looks absolutely amazing and I can totally see kids spending hours building this tower.
Lite Bright Kit. Raise your hand if you had this as a kid! Me too! I really loved this thing and I think it would be a great alternative to electronic games.
Lamb Slippers . These are so darn cute. I am really tempted to pick these up for my girls.
Cloud Robe. Lots of kids probably already got new Christmas pjs but I think a robe is always something fun to include with all the toys and such. This one comes in a few patterns- the cloud and the pink gingham are my favorite.
Shark Robe. Another option for little ones- we always compare my older daughter to a shark because she loves to hover around the penalty box looking for goals. If she would actually wear a robe I would totally pick this up for her.
Lil Bear Slippers. And the slippers that broke Instagram this year. These are the the family slippers that are just so cute- Lil Bear is pictured but you can also click here to get Mama Bear, Baby Bear and Papa Bear. There is a slightly nicer version and different pattern of Dearfoams Family Slippers here. I love the Grumpy Bear version.
Coloring Book. This is for sure going into a stocking this year. A simple coloring book that reinforces confidence in girls with pages that focus on curiosity, bravery and more. There is so much out there to knock the self esteem of kids these days, I really love anything I can do at home to build my girls back up.
Colored Pencils . Colored pencils are a great addition to the coloring book and I love these flourescent pencils. If florescent isn’t your thing, you can see tons of other really whimsical and fun options from this company. Another idea, is to try one of these silly scented colored pencil options by clicking here.
Tree Swing. Oh how I wish we had a tree that could support this. I think this would be a perfect gift from the Grandparents and I could see kids playing on this endlessly. In summer, you might even find the little monsters reading books or playing games on this swing.
Fortune Teller Kit. Another retro gift idea- anyone else obsessed with cootie catchers as a kid? I certainly was and this is a jazzed up version of a cootie catcher with stickers, a secret message pen and more. I am always looking for stuff like this to entertain little sister at her big sister’s games or for car trips or slumber parties.
Doll Moses Basket. Any American Girl or doll fans might love this little Moses basket. This one is pretty enough to keep out on display in a bedroom.
US Coloring Map. This is a cool idea for kids that love adventure. We are trying to visit every state before my girls turn 18 and this is a really fun way for them to track where they have visited.
The Story Orchestra . I do like including books at Christmas and these books are so gorgeous. You can choose from famous ballets like the Nutcracker, Swan Lake or Sleeping Beauty featuring Tchaikovsky’s music or the Four Seasons featuring Vivaldi. The pages are beautifully illustrated and as you read you can push buttons to hear each musical piece. We have the Nutcracker and it is the first holiday book my kids grab every year.
Disney Tsum Tsum Lip Balm. A really cute stocking stuffer idea or a little gift the kids can pick up for all their friends. You can also choose from Star Wars, Disney Princesses and Villains and more…
Sky Light Laser Projector . This is a cool projector to pick up for a child’s bedroom, playroom or maybe even for movie night. It has bold colors and projects stars onto the ceiling- you can adjust the brightness to create a soothing environment for your child.
Que Water Bottle. Ok I had to find something other than Hydros to recommend and these bottles look really fun. The concept is brilliant- you twist the bottle to make it super compact or stretch it out to fill with more water. They come in several bright colors and would be a perfect option for backpacks at school. I also LOVE that these are dishwasher safe. Fill this with a few pieces of candy and it is a perfect stocking stuffer.
Hopefully some of these ideas work for your children this year. I’d love to hear about any amazing items you are excited about as well.
