Well we have finally purchased our first American Girl doll. My 7 year old got Lea for her birthday this year and now I am finally elbow deep in all the accessories and books and clothes for Lea. She is a fairly high maintenance addition to our family 😉
I thought I would put together a list of ideas if you have little American Girl fans at home. Some fun crafts, simple sewing projects and other things you can make yourself for your dolls.
I would love to hear about anything you have made for your little American Girl dolls. It is never to early to start thinking ahead to holiday gifts- so you might save this post for ideas to create something special for your little one.

I had the American girl bug as a kid and now the girl I babysit has Lea and Grace. We love to do lots of DIYs to save money and have a fun activity together. We made an adorable bakery cart out of a hinged shoe box. We taped 2 shishkebab skewers to the sides of the shoe box, the same side that has the hinged attachment. On the kebab skewers we hung a sign saying “la petite patisserie”. We made cakes and cookies out of polymer clay (there are lots of tutorials, but they are pretty easy to figure out without them). We put a napkin over the box as a table cloth. When she is done playing, all the foods and accesories all fit inside the shoe box. Took us about 10 mins and its been hours of fun. You can use this basic idea to make fruit stands, lemonade stands or whatever else you desire.
Also look at thrift stores and on craigslist and facebook yardsales for AG stuff. we’ve gotten a haul from facebook worth over 1000 new, for under 100. And I have found doll beds, small kitchens and other doll sized things in thrift stores for cheap. keep your eyes open.

Thanks for posting links to some great ideas! My daughter decorated a small tree for her dolls, we even made them stockings for their fireplace! (I wish I could upload a picture! ☺) The dolls are my daughters favorite toys, we find lots of fun crafts and printable to make for them!

I tried the Another Storage Idea link twice. It took me to a snowstorm pic once and the tent page the second time. Is there a working link? Love the tent, by the way! I will be making a couple for my grand daughters dolls.
Thank you!

Wow! What a great article. My daughters played with them, and now my granddaughter does too. I have had as much fun making them clothes and accessories over the years as they have had playing with them. Thank you so much for so many ideas.
