It is Spring now and my thoughts are turning to cleaning, organizing and basically freshening and updating our home. With two small children, I often feel the kitchen and laundry room are the areas of our home that I seem to spend the most time in. I have been working on little projects here and there to make the time I am spending cooking, cleaning, washing, drying and folding a bit more pleasant.
Why not make the ordinary tasks I need to do each day as pleasant as possible by using my favorite cleaners, lighting a wonderful smelling candle and adding special little touches here and there to really create a unique home.

I have been scrubbing the house from top to bottom with my favorite Mrs. Meyer’s Clean Day® products. If you’re interested in finding these cleaning products, be sure to check the Kroger Weekly Ad for any deals or promotions on them, and to see where they are located in-store.
The Lavender scent is my favorite for laundry products and hand soap, but lately I have been loving the lemon verbena for a bright citrus scent in the kitchen. The products are made with essential oils so they have a natural scent that is fresh and clean and perfect for Spring.
I have been using the Mrs. Meyer’s Clean Day® Lavender Laundry Detergent and Fabric Softener and loving the hint of fragrance on our clothes – it certainly makes folding things more pleasant. On that same note I decided to also make little lavender sachets for each of our dresser drawers.
I thought some of you might also want to fancy up laundry day a bit with this simple project. To make these little sachets is very fast and these make such pretty gifts for friends and family. Plus with Earth Day right around the corner, you can use these as reusable dryer sheets over and over again!

To make the sachets you need to round up the following materials:
- Needle and thread or sewing machine
- Scrap fabric (I just used leftovers from previous projects)
- Dried lavender (purchase online here or at natural foods stores)
- Funnel or parchment paper
Start by cutting your fabric into the shape and size of your choice. I made 4×4″ squares. Fold your fabric in half and match up the ends to get two identical pieces with one cut.

Once you have your squares cut you can pin your squares together and sew three sides of the fabric and then 1/2 of the way on the 4th side.
Now fill the open side of the square with dried lavender. I didn’t have a funnel to use to fill the fabric so I rolled up a piece of parchment paper to create a funnel to easily pour the dried lavender into the square. Be sure you have something underneath to catch any stray lavender that spills.

Once the sachet is filled with lavender, sew up the open flap so the entire square is secure.
Here is the finished square:

I decided to cut the ends with pinking shears just for a more finished look.
Ta da! You are totally done.

If you are good with a needle and thread or the sewing machine, you can add embellishments to make these more fun. I cut out little hearts from my scrap fabric and sewed them on the sachets that I made for the kid’s rooms. My girls are going to love these 😉
Now pop these pretty little sachets into your dresser for a pleasant hint of fragrance when you open the drawer.

These sachets are fun and inexpensive homemade gifts as well! These would be perfect in a housewarming gift basket with your favorite cleaning products. Just add Mrs. Meyer’s Clean Day® dish soap, hand soap, candles, all purpose cleaner and some pretty dish towels and you have a fantastic gift that is not only practical but also pretty.
