Well boo. Just a little update that if you regularly order from Amazon (and I happen to have these lovely little brown boxes on the porch all.the.time) they have increased the free shipping minimum.
It was $35 and now it has jumped to $49. So not hard to spend $49 at Amazon but this might be a good time to revisit the Prime program. If you are a Prime member nothing has changed. If you happen to order $25+ in books the shipping will still be free.
If you are not a Prime member, there is an annual membership fee of $99. That seems like a lot but it breaks down to $8.25 per month. Any order placed from Amazon directly gets free shipping (some 3rd party vendors don’t count and you’ll see that noted on the item.)
Not only do you get free shipping but free two day shipping so your items are there crazy fast. If you need your item overnight you can pay $3.99 and have it the next day. Plus they are rolling out same day service in some areas as well.
In addition to the free shipping you also get access to free Kindle books, some free movies and tv shows and advance dibs on some of the really good lightening deals they offer each day.
So I actually pay the $99 per year for Prime. I just find it is worth it in the end by all the perks I get back.
If you want to check out Amazon Prime and get a free 30 day trial head over here.

Another nice thing I’ve noticed with Prime – if I’m not in a hurry to get something, I can often select slower shipping and get $1 credit for movies/music. I’ve used this to get the newer movie rentals for free. 🙂
I order things more than once a month, and the Prime tv shows for kids work out for us. I don’t want to pay extra for Hulu or Netflix. Amazon Prime also has some exclusive TV shows now (Bosch was good! Orphan Black seasons 1-2).
I don’t know if I’ll keep it when we stop using diapers, but so far it’s been a good deal for us!

Yes great point! I select the slow shipping sometimes and things are still arriving super fast 🙂
