Do you have some gift cards on your list this year for holiday gifts? I certainly do and I always struggle with fun and simple ways to present the gift cards.
I hate just handing people an envelope and I want to do fun packaging so it feels like they actually got a physical gift to open.
So here is one way I am giving out gift cards this year- it was super cheap and easy to do and I think makes it look like I made an effort on the gift (even though it is just a gift card.)
Supplies:
Gift Bag (mine is from the Target Dollar Spot but Michael’s also has them)
Cellophane Treat Bag
Ribbon
Glitter
Jingle Bells (mine are from Michael’s)
Optional- Heat Transfer cut out from my Silhouette Machine
First I wanted to dress up the bag a bit so I used my Silhouette machine to cut out a Christmas phrase and used gold glitter transfer material.
I simply ironed that right onto my bag.
I found some large glitter in the dollar section of both Michael’s and Target and I used that to sprinkle inside the cello bag. Just a little goes a long way! Some people are not fans of glitter and it can get messy so pictured above are some large snowflakes I found at Target that would be mess free and still really cute. You could also use Epsom salts and that would be so pretty like snow.
I took the bag and dumped it upside down to shake free any excess glitter. The inside of my cello bag acted as almost an adhesive for the glitter. So you should find some little pieces will stick here and there after dumping out the excess.
I put the gift card inside and tied with twine and trimmed off a bit of the top of the bag so it would fit inside the cloth bag.
Lastly I tied red velvet ribbon and a few jingle bells to the top of the cloth bag and that was it! Simple, fun and a great way to present a gift card.
This little bag is for a teacher that loves Michael’s stores so hopefully she likes her gift.
And we often give out gift cards for teacher gifts- I bet you do too!
Here are two other ideas I posted on Instagram awhile back:
This was a gift card from a baby shower we had for a teacher. Just a plain box, hot glued flower from Michael’s and a little ribbon. It would be easy to make this more Christmas-y with pinecones, tree trimmings, holly or a poinsettia on top.
Pretty sure this box was from Target and inside is a little tissue paper and a Jamba Juice gift card. We did these for a little Valentine’s Day treat for the teachers. This would be adorable with Starbucks gift cards and a little Starbucks cup ornament.
