Whoo-ee ya’ll! The holiday season is here and time for elastic waistband pants, Christmas music and lots of family movie nights.
Behind the Screen is a monthly chat just to talk about what is going on over here at MFA and a few products or things I have been loving. Nothing is an especially good deal or super frugal- just stuff I have found and liked and thought I’d share with you as well.
In October I found a few things I loved and wanted to mention:
Orly Nail Polish in Frolic– I know ’tis the season for dark nail polish but I occasionally like to fight the man and rebel against conformity. This purple polish is super pretty and just a happy color for your feet or fingers. I found a cute nail polish blog on IG that I have been following called Go Polish and you can see what it looks like on her fingers here.
John Grisham’s new book Rogue Lawyer. Loved this one. Reminded me a bit of the Lincoln Lawyer and I listed to it on Audible in about 2 days. Pick it up and you won’t want to put it down.
Children’s Tee-Pee- I actually had this on my list to try as a DIY project this holiday season for my 6 year old. These tee-pees are so popular and so darn expensive! My friend spotted an awesome deal on them at Sam’s Club– just $49! She found navy blue but when I went in they only had pink. I just grabbed a Sam’s Club membership deal myself and plan to swing by and pick this up as our baby girl’s Christmas gift this year.
Seasonal Decor at Target. Darn you and your cute things Target! This year’s seasonal decor is starting to roll out and it is CUTE! I love these fun front door mats.
Joann’s Fleece. Joann’s has had some amazing sales on fleece and I picked up some blue recently and made cheap and cheerful little blankets. My kids love these and it brings fall/winter into the house so easily. I just bought about 3 yards of fleece for about $6 and cut it in half and I have this “throw” in the living room and another one in the family room. I didn’t even bother finishing the edges but just trimmed the edges with fabric scissors and it looks like a normal blanket. We have been using these outside too on the outdoor chairs. Way cheaper than buying a bunch of new throw blankets.
And here is my lovely debut in a hair net:
Foxy right?
Actually this was a really fun night. My girls and I went to package food for Feed My Starving Children. It is a relief organization that provides food for children in Third World countries. It is a great organization and such a fun event! If you are interested in donating to purchase the food kits or taking your family to pack food, you can find a list of locations here.
I would do this again in a heartbeat and my kids had a great time. We actually bumped into friends with their soccer teams and Girl Scouts and all sorts of organizations that do this every year. It will for sure become a holiday tradition for us too.
We had a great Halloween! I hope you did too! Two soccer games (and homemade ghost cookies for the little ladies), one Dorothy and one Katniss and one Mom that survived a group of about 20 kids all scrambling door to door begging for treats.
And that about does it for October. Happy November to you and as always thank you for taking the time to check in with My Frugal Adventures! This should be a great holiday season!
