Pumpkin Spice Sugar Scrub

Happy season of all things pumpkin!  I absolutely love pumpkin in most forms but for some reason I think I am one of the few people that actually like plain coffee or Lattes and not Pumpkin Spice Lattes.

I decided a pumpkin spice sugar scrub would be a fun little treat for the shower.  This recipe is super simple and you might even be able to make it now with items you have on hand.

I think this would be a fun gift to bring a friend this fall or keep it by your sink for a quick hand scrub to keep your hands soft.

That simple!  You can adjust this recipe to suit your needs- the more Sugar in the Raw you add the more scrubby this will be.  For a softer sugar scrub, increase the amount of white sugar.

You can also add more pumpkin pie spice or cinnamon for extra fragrance or try a few drops of your favorite essential oils- I added a few drops of Citrus Fresh from Young Living.

This scrub will last for several weeks in the shower or sink.

One last little note- I prefer to use almond oil in recipes like this.  You can grab a bottle from Amazon here or look in the personal care section at stores like Sprouts and Whole Foods.

You can absolutely substitute coconut oil if you prefer.  Fractionated coconut oil is easier to use in recipes like this because regular coconut oil will change consistency according to the temperature.  So in the summer your jar is likely liquid and in winter it is solid.  Fractionated coconut oil is slightly less greasy feeling than standard coconut oil and it will stay liquid regardless of the temperature. You want to keep this aside for beauty products and not for cooking.  Find it with the coconut oil at your favorite store or grab a bottle here from Amazon.

And I hope you enjoy this recipe!  It does smell pretty amazing.  I made a batch of this and set it aside on the counter to finish up dinner and my 6 year old said “Mom I want to have that for dessert tonight.”  LOL.  Not exactly dessert food my love but it certainly does smell good 🙂
