Here are some free or cheap children’s activities available this week to keep the kiddos busy. I thought posting these now will help you plan your week.
These are all the things that are free to do this week with just a few that are very inexpensive.
As always, it’s best to confirm with your local store before you make a special trip.
Lakeshore Learning: Kids will make a Bug Buddy on August 29th. Stop by from 11am-3pm.
Barnes and Noble: There is a free storytime Tuesday and Thursday as well as Saturday of each week with books, a cookie and usually coloring pages and activities. Check your local store to confirm and verify time.
There will be a special storytime this week featuring Little Blue Truck’s Beep-Along Book on Saturday.
Bass Pro Shop: Your kids can participate in the Free Kid’s Adventures Activities- treasure hunts, crafts and more. These are weekly activities and vary greatly by location. You can head over here to find your local store to confirm activities and times. And just a heads up from personal experience, it is best to get in line early. These events tend to be very popular.
REI: They offer the Family Adventure Program with various classes for children and adults. I saw hiking and camping classes plus fun Geocaching adventures. I also saw outdoor photography lessons.

Michaels: Stop by on August 29th to make a fun bookmark. Just $2 per child for 30 minutes of craft fun, including supplies. Ages 3 and up.
Lego Store: The Lego Store now offers online registration for the free monthly build. The next build is not until September 1-2 but you need to register right away. Space is limited!
Pottery Barn Kids: Stop by for Storytime each week from 11-11:30 am. Kid’s can become a book club member and get a special gift after attending 5 story times.
Williams-Sonoma: Junor Chef Class on August 29th at 10am. Children will learn all about pizza! Suitable for children ages 5-13.
If you live near an American Girl Store, you might check out their events. Times and dates vary. August 27-29 many locations are having a free event where children can explore the fabulous 50s with Maryellen! Plus get a free gift while supplies last. Check your location for times and too confirm they are offering this event. (Just FYI, the new doll Maryellen will be available starting 8/27).
