Starbucks is rolling out some new smoothies.

There are three flavors available- Mango Carrot, sweet greens or strawberry.  These are from Evolution Fresh and they are only available in select markets right now- looks like mostly the West Coast.

These have cold pressed juice and Dannon Greek nonfat yogurt as the base for the smoothies.

You can read more about the smoothies here.

I wanted to mention these because at the Starbucks locations in my area, they are offering 50% off the smoothies from 2pm until close.

Again these are not available in all locations and I can’t find anything from Starbucks directly about the promotion.  If you happen to be driving past a Starbucks in your area, you might take a look and see if you spot these signs:

Otherwise you can always call your local store and ask if they have a promotion on the new Evolution Fresh smoothies. The Starbucks web site does say these are mostly available in Northern CA, the Pacific Northwest and at grocery store locations so that is the best bet.

And if you try one please come back and let me know what you think!  I am going to go back in a bit for a Mango Carrot one.

Thanks for the info. We’ll be heading to Northern CA soon and will keep an eye out. This would be a fun treat for the kids (especially for 50%off)

We stopped by Starbucks yesterday and my kids both ordered the strawberry flavor. Sadly they didn’t like their drinks at all. My daughter said it tasted too earthy (her words “like dirt”). Fortunately one of the baristas asked how they were and said that flavor was her least favorite too. She said the mango carrot was much better — apparently the strawberry one has beets (among other things) in it. She was SO nice and offered to replace the drinks at no charge. So both kids ended up with a grande hot cocoa and were thrilled. I think if you’re expecting the drink to be a fruit & VEGGIE smoothie then you’d enjoy it. It just wasn’t what my kids were expecting… I look forward to hearing how you like the mango/carrot one!

Hi Karen, I got the sweet greens. The calories were 170 so I figured it was almost entirely greens because even a banana would be almost all those calories alone. They did ask me if I wanted a banana or kale added and I just got it as is so I think you can sweeten them. It was a green smoothie for sure- I didn’t love it but it is hard to make a truly healthy smoothie taste sweet. I think I’ll skip the strawberry because I don’t care for beets in smoothies either 🙂 So I’d get it again for sure- probably not for $6 though.
