Holiday Gift Idea: Elf Movie Gift Basket

Here is a really fun and easy gift idea. I love gifts that incorporate the entire family- it makes things so easy and it can be more affordable too.

So I needed to put together a small gift for a friend and her family- I wasn’t sure what her children were interested in and I didn’t want to pick up a bunch of toys that might wind up as clutter.

So instead I found a fun family movie that is pretty much a classic for many of us- Elf. This movie is fun for adults, kids, boys, girls — so a great one to grab.

Next I bought some fancy Amish popcorn and a little glass dispenser at World Market. I bought some white cheddar seasoning and made a little vinyl label with my Silhouette machine to dress up the popcorn seasoning.

Then I got a little muslin bag and painted a reindeer on it (my 7 year old insisted I add a red dot of glitter for the nose). Inside the bag I added holiday gummy bears (candy), peppermint candy corn, candy canes and a mini maple syrup.  The maple syrup was about $2 at Target.

I added a little gift tag that reads “We elves try to stick to the four main food groups- candy, candy corn, candy canes and syrup.” Which is a funny line from the movie.

So now they have everything they need for a fun movie night at home and hopefully they can use this movie over and over each year.

I bought a little crate at Michael’s and stained it dark brown and that was it!

About $20 for this gift and hopefully they like it.
