This weekend is a great time to stop by Target stores.
First the Dollar Spot at my store hit 70% off. There was a lot to choose from including coloring books, notepads, Halloween items, Thanksgiving items and so on.
I picked up an empty, clear paint bucket for $.90 (great to hold gifts for Christmas), a Winnie the Pooh coloring book for $.30, a 3pk of fine glitter for $.30 and some black polka dot napkins for $.30 a pack and then black and white striped paper plates for $.30.
This is for sure the time to grab things for Operation Christmas Child boxes because you can’t beat $.30 per item and the coloring books, crayons and assorted little toys are perfect!
As for Halloween clearance, every store should have hit 30% off for food items and 50% off for decor items today.
Typically the stores are very anxious to get rid of Halloween items because they really want to get the Christmas trees and such out.
We usually see clearance up to 90% on decor items and 70% on food items- although each store’s clearance schedule will be slightly different.
I wouldn’t be surprised if they marked things down again (70% decor and 50% food) on Monday and then most likely 90% off decor and 70% off food by Friday.
After last night’s haul, there is no chance I am buying more candy or sweets but the bags of pretzels, popcorn, juice boxes etc… are perfect to pick up now for lunches. They also have hand soaps and sometimes Tupperware containers and other things that are in Halloween theme you can pick up for great prices.
My store had tons and tons to choose from. I think I might check it out again tomorrow- some larger stores have been doing extra seasonal markdowns on Sundays so you never know.
Also just note you do want to scan things because sometimes the price is actually lower then the price tag might reflect.
I’d love to hear what kinds of things you score on your clearance trip– or better yet post a pic over on the My Frugal Adventures Facebook page!

I had some cartwheel coupons for Halloween items that didn’t expire until today and didn’t exclude clearance so I was able to pick up a few boxes of the ghoulaid koolaid for after school playdates for about $0.92 each, picked up a big 30oz. box of goldfish for $3. 74, and because the only box of halloween zbars clifbars left was pried partly open, the girl at the register thought some might be missing and marked it down to $2! I got home, opened it the rest of the way and there were the complete 12 bars in there-I was pretty excited about that since you can’t even get a box of 6 for that cheap!
