There is an excellent deal on the Silhouette Cameo machine right now.
The only deal I noticed in Black Friday ads is this one from Joann’s:
The set on sale today includes the Cameo cutting device, the vinyl starter bundle, $25 gift card and a one month membership to the online store.
The Joann’s includes bonus tools and a dust cover as opposed to the vinyl starter and one month membership.
I think the Overstock deal is the better of the two deals but one thing I want to mention is that this appears to be the older Cameo. This is the machine that I actually have myself.
Silhouette just released a new Cameo that looks awesome. I haven’t tried it yet but there are several new features including a touch screen, upgraded rollers, guide marks and a cutter that make things easier to cut, a USB port so you don’t have to attach to your computer, storage compartment for extra blades, Pixscan which allows you to cut exactly around specific patterns, roll feeder so you can feed rolled items into the machine (this helps to eliminate waste on vinyl in particular- I have to cut the vinyl before I feed it and that creates waste since you can’t cut exactly)… you can see the new features of the machine here.
If you’d like to wait for the new machine, there will be a nice deal tomorrow. Please note the price will be $269 not $199 but I can’t share the details until tomorrow.
Personally I think if I was going to occasionally use the Silhouette to make banners, vinyl and basic things I would probably stick with the cheaper model. If you want to do a lot of paper crafts and you think you will use this machine a lot, it might be worth investing a bit more for the newer machine. There are a lot of nice little perks that will make it much easier to use than the current cameo. Just my opinion 🙂
Head over to Overstock.com to grab the $199 unit. This is an early Black Friday doorbuster so the offer won’t last long!
Happy Shopping!
Update: Amazon has joined the party too with a $199 machine. The Amazon version comes with:
- The silhouette cameo starter bundle includes an extra mat (2 total), cutting blade (2 total), metallic pen set and pick-me-up-tool
I just bought a new mat and cutting blade myself so that is handy. I haven’t used the metallic pen set but I was just looking at them and I think I need them right away. They will actually sketch instead of cut- so perfect for name cards, gift tags, greeting cards etc…
