In Northern California, we tend to get some mosquitoes and they really do love me.
I can not stand mosquitoes yet I also have a love hate relationship with typical big sprays. I occasionally go for runs at dusk and I just feel gross when I spray on big sprays. (And I have tried tons of them.) My little girl has a classmate that got a nasty mosquito bite right on her little eyebrow and the poor thing had a big swollen eye for a few days. I have been especially vigilant this year after seeing that little girl walk around like Rocky Balboa for a few days.
So I have been looking into alternatives for regular big spray that are safe for me and for my sweet little girls and came across this oil that might be worth checking out- Bug Off Synergy.
It is priced at $7.95 but I bet this lasts for a really long time. It is a mixture of fragrances (including Citronella) and you can either mix it to make a homemade spray or dab oil on your hands and rub it over your hair and exposed skin and that is that.
This little bitty jar you can easily tuck inside a purse or keep in the car so you have it anytime you might need it.

This is a wonderful product! Mosquitoes love my family as well and we tried this last summer for the first time and I will NEVER use any other bug spray! It works so so well. I fill a spray bottle with witch hazel and add drops of the bug off blend and spray as needed. The bottle of essential oils lasted us the entire summer using it nearly every single day on 2 kids and 2 adults.

I have had excellent results with All Terrain Kids Herbal Armor DEET-Free Natural Insect Repellent. My kids and my husband and I have used it on two separate camping trips. After 2-3 days on each trip, we came away with either zero bites or just a couple from places we weren’t as diligent applying the repellant. Everyone else who was camping with us had tons of bites. As long as you apply regularly as directed, it works perfectly.
