How to Clean Sunglasses - so easy! Just 10 seconds to get them sparkly clean!

I am so excited to share this super, super fast and easy way to clean sunglasses!

It might seem like a silly little thing but I will raise my hand and confess to being a terrible abuser of sunglasses.

I don’t clean them- heck I barely use the case for them.  If they are smudged or dirty I just wipe them off with the hem of my shirt and move on with my day.

But I read this tip in Real Simple and I just had to share because it is so easy!

To clean your sunglasses just head into the kitchen and assemble the following:

  • Coffee Filters or a lint free rag
  • Dish Soap
  • Bowl of water (I used a mason jar)

So just fill your bowl or jar with water and then add about 1-2 drops of dish soap. That is it!

Next dunk your sunglasses for just a second. Pull them out and use the coffee filter to rub the lenses.

Hopefully you have lovely shiny clear as all get out sunglasses!

Now I went hiking with the kids the other day and then swimming with the little stinkers yesterday.  So my shades were in bad shape- dust from our hike and then little water spots from splashing in the pool.

I did the process above and in like 10 seconds my sunglasses were crystal clear!  yeah!

*NOTE:  If you have prescription sunglasses or anything fancy on your glasses, check with your optometrist first.

And you might be wondering if this will work for eyeglasses as well?

I dunno.  My little girl wears glasses and this is the homemade recipe I use:

  • 50% Water
  • 50% Isopropyl Alcohol

Mix in a little squirt bottle and spritz on the lens. I use the coffee filters to clean those too.

Again, I would check with an optometrist first just to be sure this is safe for your glasses.
