Here is a super simple Valentine’s Day craft to make your own garland. This is really cute for a doorway, a mantle, draped over a mirror or a buffet table for parties.
This was a pretty inexpensive project- I purchased 2 sheets of glitter scrapbook paper at Joann’s for $.99 a sheet. This was a thicker, textured stock so it was a little more expensive.
Next I bought a large heart punch- this punch was roughly $5.50 with a coupon at Michael’s. I find this style of punch where you push down (rather then the kind where you squeeze) is not only easier to use but WAY more effective. Perfect hearts even with the textured paper.
So I used the punch to cut out a bunch of little hearts in pink and red and then cut a long strip of ribbon I had on hand.
I used my hot glue gun to glue the hearts directly onto the ribbon- try to keep the strip of glue in the same spot on each heart so it looks nice and uniform. I tend to try to get as close to the top as possible so the hearts aren’t top heavy and flop over on your ribbon.
And that is it! Couldn’t be any easier and you can adjust this to any size you might need. The heart punch I know I will use again and let me tell you my kids loved this garland. The first thing they did was beg me to make more hearts and then they sat together and taped the hearts to a ribbon and made little garlands to hang on their bedroom doors ;).
I think this could be really cute for a child’s birthday too depending on the theme of the party.
