Here is a really fun and simple idea for Super Bowl. I was assigned a dessert item for our Superbowl party and decided to make these cute little football brownies.
These are really simple so they are fast to make and virtually impossible to mess up (yeah!) And I think they are really cute and fun too.
You can take these to a Superbowl party or for those of you with little football players, these would be fun for after games or at sports themed parties.
To start you need a basic brownie recipe. I used a Mud Pie box mix (Ghirardelli is usually our favorite) and the crust didn’t cut as cleanly as I would have liked. So it is probably best to stick with a basic brownie and not something with caramel drizzled on top etc…
Bake your brownies per the directions in a standard baking dish. Take them out and let them cool.
While that is happening you want to make up some buttercream frosting. You could purchase icing in white but I just made this quick recipe and it is more then you will need:
- 1/4 cup butter-softened
- 1 cup confectioner’s sugar
- 1/4 teaspoon vanilla
- 1/4 teaspoon salt
- 1 tablespoon heavy cream
You have to play with that a little to get the right consistency. So start with the butter and don’t add all the ingredients in at once- ad a bit of sugar and a bit of the milk and keep going until it looks (and tastes) right.
I bought a 4 pack of Sports cookie cutters- this is the one I bought and mine were $4.99 at Michaels.
I think you might be able to cut these shapes freehand too if you don’t want the cutters.
So that is mine after I cut them. I found that cutting them slightly warm made them a little crumbly so try to let them cool completely.
Next I put the frosting in a Ziploc bag and cut just the tinest bit of the tip off. I drew the laces and filled in the football freehand.
It was really simple- just take care you don’t cut the hole in the bag too big or your laces will be messy.
And here is the finished product! Simple!
