I have mentioned the Target Red Card in the past but I wanted to mention it again for holiday shopping.
There are (2) different cards you can choose from- one is a credit card and the other is a debit card linked to your checking account.
The top two reasons to consider a RedCard are:
- Free shipping on anything you order at Target.com
- 5% off any purchase online or in store
Those are nice little perks if you plan to do any shopping for the holidays at Target. We have the debit card and although I don’t plan to do any big ticket holiday purchases, I find all those little $15 and $20 and $50 purchases I make regularly tend to add up so it is nice to have the cumulative 5% savings.
One other note is that last year Target opened up 20 Black Friday deals a few hours early (8pm on Wednesday night PST) for Redcard holders only. The prices were normal online and then once you entered your Redcard, the Black Friday price applied.
As an added bonus last year, there were some coupons that expired on Thanksgiving Day. Since the deals were opened a few hours early- technically the night before Thanksgiving- the coupon codes could be applied making the prices better online then if you had waited in line to get into the store!
I do not know if they will do this again this year but I did want to mention it now. (You can see details of last year’s early Redcard deals here if you are curious- they were good ones. Barbies, Lego, Kitchenaid, TVs and more.) I do have a Redcard so I will for sure be watching for this again this year and I will have everything posted for you right here.
You can get more details about the Target RedCard here.

How do you find out if they open up deals early for Redcard members? Do they email you or is it just trial and error? Thanks!
Charlene says
Leah- The redcard offers would be available to anyone that has a card. You can check my blog and I will post the offers if they do the same promotion again this year.

I would also like to encourage Target Redcard holders to sign up for Take Charge of Education. It is no cost to you. Enter the name of your school and “Use the REDcard, and we’ll donate up to 1% of your purchases to help the eligible K–12 school of your choice.”

thanks Charlene! Do you remember did we have to pay with our red card? Just want to make sure I have it at a zero balance if that’s the case.

There are few items I would like to purchase that are in the Target Black Friday ad however, I prefer to do any “black friday” shopping online. Do you know if the items in the ad will be available online? thank you.
Charlene says
Audrey- yes the price did not change until a red card was entered as payment. So I don’t think there is anyway to get around that.
