I wanted to mention this little idea I had because it has been a problem for me and I thought it might be something that some of you run into as well.
I always struggle with serving healthy snacks to the kiddos- at soccer games or when I bring snacks to school.
It is easy to stuff grapes or apple slices or orange slices into Ziploc bags but what about when you want to do something different? How to transport and easily serve fresh foods without a lot of fuss or mess?
I recently took watermelon to school and it was a bit of a pain- I used a big bowl to hold the chopped watermelon, sent a serving spoon for the teacher and then little plastic cups plus forks. Kind of a lot of work for snack time.
So I found these little Hefty Zoo Pals cups at Target for $1.99. They come with a little lid and there are 12 to a pack. Each cup has a fun design on it like frogs, butterflies and monkeys.
We wanted to take pears for a soccer snack and these cups make it so easy to transport chopped fruit or veggies!
I just put the lid on top and then I was going to tape the fork to the cup but my husband had the great idea to just stuff that fork in the straw hole instead. Easy!
So fresh food that is convenient and easy to snack on! I always find my children are much more likely to eat fruit or veggies if they are sliced up in bite size pieces.
These worked out perfectly for soccer and we just wrote names on the cups with a Sharpie for the kids that couldn’t finish it all at halftime. These are also mess free options for the car ride home.
So I was pretty happy with this solution and the kids loved getting something a little different for snack.

Thanks for the great idea. This is good for any age. I especially like putting the fork inside the cup.

Did you put pineapple juice or other juice to stop browning of pears?
Charlene says
Cathy- I was worried about that but I didn’t use anything. They stayed fine for 2 hours or so. I think Apples and Bananas are the fruits that really get yucky fast. The pears seemed to hold up well but they were just a tiny bit hard- not super ripe.
