If you are wondering what to do with all the Halloween candy your kids will receive this year, you might consider the Halloween Candy Buy Back Program.
This is a fun program that dentists around the country participate in. They will buy back your Halloween candy and then send it to troops oversees.
It is a great program that helps put all that candy to good use.
You can search for a participating dentist in your area here and get more information. Typically the dentists will offer an incentive to children, such as coupons, toys, fun toothbrushes and other things. This will vary from practice to practice so the best bet is to enter your zip code and see what is going on in your area. I would probably check back right before Halloween in case there are last minute additions.
Another idea is to offer your own Halloween Candy Buy Back. I know I love to go to the Trunk or Treat festivities and carnivals at school and church but we often get way to much candy.
You can purchase an inexpensive something or other (games, toys, tickets to an activity, DVDs etc…) and then let the kiddos know if they are willing to part with the candy on the 1st, the Great Pumpkin will trade them the candy for xyz item.
(I say the Great Pumpkin but you can make up any character you like. Maybe the tooth fairy will make a special trip on November 1st.)

Witch Hazel visits our house on Halloween night and trades the candy for a toy. The kids eat all they can that night and then it all disappears! I then pick out all the hard candy that would be appropriate for Operation Christmas Child.
