I wanted to pass on a quick and easy little tip for a sugar free treat that you might consider packing in your child’s lunchbox.
My kids LOVE this treat- they have it warmed up at night or with after school snacks or occasionally I pop it in lunchboxes.
I prefer not to pack sugary drinks and juices so this is a really great alternative to those kinds of things and it is also very inexpensive. Usually in lunchboxes I pack water or plain milk but sometimes I like to send the kiddos off with a little treat.
And as you guys know, I like things that are quick and easy so this will take you about 30 seconds and done!
Are you familiar with Agave? It is an all natural sweetener that can be used in place of white sugar- just like honey.
You can put Agave in all sorts of things like lemonade or baked goods. It is also very yummy right on top of pancakes or on oatmeal. The Wholesome Sweeteners brand is the one we usually buy and they make several flavored versions of agave- our favorites are cinnamon, maple and the vanilla.
You will pay about $4-5 for a container of agave but it lasts for a long time so well worth the price.
I like to pack a normal container of milk in lunchboxes and then I give a squeeze of agave into the milk. This is really to taste but just a drizzle for about 6oz of milk will give it a really nice sweet flavor. We call it Vanilla Milk and my 4 and 6 year olds LOVE this treat.
You can also warm this up in the microwave – it is a fast and easy alternative to hot chocolate and the kiddos are still getting that lovely comforting drink without all the sugar and preservatives and such.
Give it a shot and see what you think!
I usually find agave at Whole Foods, Sprouts Markets etc… If you prefer to shop online, Vitacost has Agave for about $3.99. You can also get a $10 credit off a $30 order at Vitacost- first time customers only.

HI Charlene–Is that a Goodbyn container you are using in the photo? If so, how do you like them? I’ve been considering them…Thanks!
Hey Barbie- I don’t love them but I like them :). My Target has them on clearance for $7.00 right now. I’d say at that price I would probably grab one. The kids don’t put the lid all the way back on so it gets messy :). Mine came from Citrus Lane:

Thanks for the feedback Charlene. I have seen them on Amazon for $9 or so and was trying to decide if they would work…my boys are the same ages as your daughters so I figured you’d be a good judge! Maybe I’ll take a gamble if I can find at Target.
