I love when Staples offers the deal for recycling old 3-ring binders–they give you $2-off any new binder (excludes the Simply brand priced $2) for each ratty old binder you bring in for recycling! Yesterday I brought in all my kids’ old ratty school binders and walked out with new 1-inch Avery Heavyweight Binders for .99 cents each ($3.99-$2=.99). I believe the deal goes until the 14th, it is marked on the shelf tags but I spotted the deal in their online ad. I didn’t need a coupon & there’s no limit; the cashier scanned her own barcode for each recycled binder.

Thanks for posting the Staples deals.
Does any store have a deal on shipping tape?

Can you bring in a binder that is usable but I just don’t want to recycle?

    cathy, yes!
I actually brought in a brand new poly binder & Staples accepted it. Just know you’ll need to relinquish whatever binders you bring in order to receive $2-off each new binder.

I forgot to mention a frugal tip — After emptying the old school papers from the old binders, I keep the papers printed/written on only one side for my coupon-printing! Even solid-colored papers (like math worksheets). No retailer has ever complained about my recycled paper coupons. After all, even insert coupons have printing on the flip side 🙂 Train kids to sort/recycle their old school papers for your printer!

Do they still honor the teacher cards to get 25 of an item that has limits?
