Well this is a tiny bit late this month but here is the list of items you should see on sale this month plus the produce items that are in season.
This is a very easy way to save a little at the grocery store because usually the in season produce will be far less expensive plus it will be the best tasting stuff.
The great thing about January is that there are just tons and tons of great sales. This is a great time to watch for big white sales at most major retailers- lots of stores are trying to move out winter merchandise and get into the spring stuff.
You will see deals on appliances, furniture and all sorts of household items.
This is also a great time to start spring cleaning projects and there are typically nice deals on home improvement things at Lowe’s and Home Depot. We are actually looking for new carpet this month for our house.
As far as clothing this will be the end of the winter stuff so it is a great time to grab any last minute cold weather items or shop ahead for next year. If you still need hats, mittens, snow gear etc… and haven’t picked it up yet you might find those items are gone very soon.
Grocery sale items are pretty basic- you typically see a lot of New Year’s Resolution products like Slim Fast, Special K, Kashi, protein bars and more…
Cold and flu products are typically available at good prices as well as vitamins.
We will also see lots of snack foods for Superbowl- so soft drinks, wings, chips, dips etc… You might take a look around your grocery stores when you shop because there are often little coupon booklets attached to displays of Superbowl foods.

Thanks so much for these produce guides – they are really helpful! But I was wondering if there was one for December? I don’t remember seeing one and want to make sure I didn’t miss it.
Thanks!

LOL_ the embarrassing thing is that yes I did one for December but I forgot to post it :P. It got so crazy after Thanksgiving…
I am working on the Feb one to post early and once that one is done I am going to put all 12 of them in one spot so you can see a year in advance :).

I just moved last weekend and now I have to do my own grocery shopping and make my own meals. This list is fantastic and will help me save a lot of money while eating well (on a budget). Thank you thank you!!!
