JC Penney is bringing back the free haircut promotion for kids! Beginning in November, children K-6th grade can once again get a free haircut. JC Penney will be making it a permanent offer every Sunday starting November 4th.
This should be available at all JC Penney locations nationwide but you will need to book an appointment. If you took advantage of the August promo what did you think of the cuts?
You can find a JC Penney location near you by entering your zip code here.

My daughter started first grade and we took advantage of the free hair cut in August. I could not be happier! They did not shampoo her (but I figured that so we did that home) The stylist used the spray bottle and took his time with her. I think we were there for about 30 minutes. We were just going to go shoulder length with some layers but he suggested something a little different and it turned out fantastic. I will make sure I take her back in August!

I hope people will remember to tip the hairdresser/stylist.

LOL Farhana. We had a heated discussion on this on the last set of posts :). Yes I would encourage people to leave a nice tip for the stylist based on the original price of the haircut.

Was happy with this promotion, even thoug they forgot about us because they sat us around the corner (we were not able to be seen from the front desk) so they were 20 minutes late getting my son in even though there were several stylists just sitting around. It was actually a stylist that brought it to their attention even though the manager walked past us at least 10 times. This particular stylist wasn’t even the one scheduled to cut my 4 year old sons hair but had a cancellation so gladly took him. He was really friendly & afterwards offered to cut my 20 month old daughters hair as well under the promotion even though it was supposed to be for school aged children. He did a great job & I tipped him heavily for the great service. I was already going to go back to him because the kids cuts are reasonably priced $14-$15 but love that they are offering this again, will definately go back! Thanks for posting Charlene!!

So glad to hear good reviews, because ours was HORRIBLE! I took my 6 yo daughter. She has always had long hair, but she really wanted to cut it short. I agreed to shoulder length 🙂 They did no shampooing or styling, which I expected, but did use a spray bottle to spritz it wet. But since there was no styling, I just pulled it back since we were off to do some additional shopping. The next day, at home, I washed it, got out the blow dryer and straightener to style it and was devastated. It was completely crooked, even the face framing layers (which I specifically said NOT to do) were uneven. I called immediately and asked for a “fix-it” appointment with someone with experience. The “fix-it” stylist said it was the worst haircut she had seen in a very long time. She did the best she could without whacking my daughters hair off, and we have another follow-up fix-it appointment in about 4 weeks, and will continue to do so until its all nice and even.

Our haircut turned out cute, but I think we got lice from it. Needless to say we will not go back.

Kim,
WHAT!!!! You can not be serious. Ok now I am freaked out :P. You think they didn’t wash the combs and it was unsanitary or what?

I do read your website everyday, and I appreciate the time you take to post the deals you see… but I disagree with saying that the comments got heated last time. That implies that I was suggesting no tip which is totally not true. I was suggesting a solid tip based on the amount of the original price or actually a little more because I was saying about $4 which is more than 25% of the cost of the haircut, which was $15 while you were saying you would leave like $8 or $10 which I thought was just too much. I wouldn’t say that was heated at all, just maybe a difference of opinion. I’m not expecting you to post this, my comment is directed only at you since I’m sorta offended at being called out.
Charlene says
Katie,
Actually I didn’t call anyone out. I vaguely recall there being a lot of back and forth about whether or not one should even leave a tip on those posts. There was no personal attack on you. I don’t even remember the specifics or the people involved, just that there were a few people that seemed to suggest they would leave nothing or a very minimal tip for a free service. Tipping 25% of the original cost of the cut is perfectly reasonable.
