Just a reminder that all month long JC Penney will be giving away free hair cuts to children. This is for K-6th grade and only for a limited amount of appointments.
If you still have not called, I would definitely go ahead and do so. This should be available at all JC Penney locations nationwide.
I have posted this twice but since this was advertised in last Sunday’s paper I wanted to mention it one more time.
Find a JC Penney location near you by entering your zip code here.

what would you tip for this?
I have no clue since I normally trim/cut my kid’s hair myself.

Hally, I would say at least $5. Assume the haircut would be $20 or so and you tip 20%. I will probably tip $8 myself or maybe $10 if it is a great job. That is still a huge savings for me. haircuts here are $18ish + tip.

I think a kids haircut is typically $15 at JCP. I would put that at a $3 tip personally. If the haircut was $20 at 20% tip would be $4. Tip what you want, but I’m giving a normal tip, not an crazy one. I have a feeling I’m going to be waiting in a line, probably won’t be taken in at my regular time etc etc. I’m doing this to save money, not give anyone at 50%+ tip
I don’t think JCP is doing this to line the stylists pockets with good tip money, they are encouraging people to spend their savings by school clothes. Thats where I’m going to put my savings!

Well I would just do what is in your heart :). I was a waitress all through college so I tend to be generous with tips. Buying clothing doesn’t help the stylists that need to provide for their families ;). I think stylists usually get a cut of the price of the haircut and they won’t get that in this case. I pay $25 for a haircut here after tip and such so $8 or so is not an outrageous amount. If the service is awful and the cut is awful, I would probably leave about $5. That is still a huge savings over what I would normally pay so I feel ok with that.

Yep, I was a waitress too… For many years. I wouldn’t concern myself with the stylistic and her finanical issues. I would think that was her business and not mine. My concern here is frugality. I’m pretty sure they get an hourly wage. If the service was awful, and the haircut was awful, I wouldn’t give them anything! I would complain to jcp until someone there made it right, and then tip that person. As a former server, I would never expect a tip if I did an awful job!
