So here is my shopping trip for the week. I didn’t use a lot of coupons because I mostly bought fresh stuff but if you are interested in how I stretch my $50 budget, here is what I did.
I just went to Sprouts this week.
4 bags of Pretzel Crisps $3.99/2 = $7.98
Dried Blueberries $2.28
Almonds from the bulk bins $2.58
32oz Brown Cow Yogurt $2.99- used a $.55/1 Real CA Dairy coupon= $2.44
Organic Milk $5.69
2 boxes Van’s Waffles $2.00- used (2) $1.50 coupons= $1.00
1 box apple crisp topping $1.50
2 pints Blackberries = $3.00
5lbs clementines $2.99- used $1 coupon= $1.99
2 bell peppers= $1.76
2 bags organic carrots =$3.38
3lbs organic apples $2.99
1 package organic salad mix $4.99
3 mangos= $2.64
Shredded Carrots $1.49
Mushrooms $1.29
Subtotal $47- I used a $5 off store coupon so $42.00. I also paid with a gift card that I purchased previously- this store sells $100 gift cards for $89 every few months. Since the gift card was 10% off, I take 10% off and the final amount is about $38.
Since I try to spend $50 each week, that leaves me $12 to spend. We are actually getting low on meat in the freezer so I need to start looking at stocking back up.
Since I have been using coupons and buying a little extra when things are super cheap for a few years now, we don’t typically need a lot of things like cleaners and toiletries. I have most of it on hand already. So not very exciting but my goal each week is to get what we need on budget and to spend the least amount of time possible to do it.

My goal this year, is to learn how to not spend so much time planning and shopping. It is wearing me out!

One reason I follow your blog is because you do eat healthfully yourself. A lot of “extreme” deals are on stuff that I won’t feed myself or my family.
We’re running low on meat too! I did get some chickens at Target for under $3. I always check their meat section to see if there’s any last-sell-by-date items!
Anyway, kudos for showing how you can eat WELL on a pretty small budget. (We also budget $50/wk for two adults and two kids under 5.)
