You might check your Target store for Dollar Spot clearance. I found my store at 50% off this week and usually stuff goes pretty fast. Each store will be a little different but if you are planning a trip you might keep an eye out. My store has classic novels in the Dollar Spot for $2.50- so books like Jane Eyre are $1.25 after clearance. I like to look for little items I can put into Operation Christmas Child boxes or you can sometimes find little party favors and things during these sales!
And these things are pretty random but I wanted to mention them anyway:
In my 6/5 newspaper there was a single sheet coupon inside with a $3 off any Iams dog food coupon. It was not in a coupon insert but just stuffed in the paper. I used the coupons this week with the gift card deal at Target but if you have some of these you can get the small 26oz bags of Iams for free!
And I learned something new tonight that I wanted to pass on. I happened to get in line behind a Target employee that is a manager of some sort at my store. She was buying beef that was marked with two coupons (like the picture above). Apparently if there are two coupons on the product you do get both coupons applied to your order! I don’t know why that didn’t occur to me before- I always figured you’d get the better of the two coupons taken off your order but oh no! In the example above you’d get $5 off! I usually scan the fresh meat counter at my Target when I shop because these extra coupons can make for really great deals. Now I will really scan and cross my fingers for the double coupons.

When is the best time to find markdowns on the meat? I always do a scan but I have never seen coupons on them? Im thinking I don’t go at the right times. Thanks
I do this with the meat case too! This week they had 20 oz packets of chicken breast on sale for $1.99 (sell by date). I bought 5 and then went home to check if there were Smartsource coupons. There were (GoldnPlump $1.00), so I went back later for two more (and there were lots left)! So, now our freezer is well stocked. Awhile back they had the Sutton & Dodge coupons on target.com and then peelies and I got quite a few packages for good prices then. I would say I now do at least 1/3 of my grocery shopping at Target because I’m always finding such good deals there – much thanks to YOU for that! : )
I have been following your blog for about a year. I didn’t realize you loved Operation Christmas Child! I guess I must have missed reading that before. Terra, I think I need to pay more attention to the times. I happen to be at Target a lot so it blurs together 🙂 I am thinking the late afternoon seems about right. It makes sense to mark down in the late afternoon/early evening to get rid of items that day.
I got the cutest reusable bags the last time my Target did the dollar spot clearance. They were $2.50 and I got them for $.75! I got 6 for myself and 10 for my aunt!
Oh yeah those meat coupons are WONDERFUL! I also noticed a lot of times they are marking the stuff down about 50% but they use those $ off coupons so any package priced $6 to 7.99 they put a $3 off coupon, and any package priced $8 to 9.99 the put (2) $2 coupons… I always try to find the packages with the lowest price and highest coupon combos:-)
Charlene, did you happen to notice if the toys have been marked down yet? I remember scoring BIG time last July when the toys were marked down 75% off. I was able to stock up for Christmas, charities, and birthday parties for the entire year!
Sarah, my store had most of them at 30% still and a little at 50%. I am going to try and keep an eye out for 75% off because it is so nice to do it all now rather than in Oct when people are starting to really think about holiday shopping.

Just got home fr target and the white dots at the dollar spot were 75% off. Im new to couponing. I found your site 3 weeks ago, hubby bought me my printer 2 weeks ago and last week i took a picture of ALL the neat things I bought together for less than a buck each if not free. Thanks for the tip on the meat. I had never really noticed that before and I got a nice deal on some ground beef today. (it was on sale, plus the coupon)
