This was actually a pretty good trip this week. There were lots of other things that were free or every cheap with coupons but I just didn’t need them so I passed. I did these trips on different days as I was running around so a few things I forgot to put in the picture. The total was $61 with a $6 rebate back- so $55.
See the breakdown below…
Safeway:
2 packages of Jennie-O Ground Turkey 3lbs- $5 each
Sprouts:
Organic Bread $2.50
Sourdough Bread $1.50
Bulk Granola $.68 (that was 2 huge scoops of granola- what a deal!)
Peas of Mind Cauliflower French Fries $3.99
Pork Loin Roast $7.27 (this I will portion for 3 meals- 2 go in the freezer)
6 Mangoes $2.00
5lb Russet Potatoes $1.00
8lb watermelon $3.97
The total was $22.91
*Note: I was super bummed to miss the cage free eggs on sale this week. I guess with Sprouts they only have limited quantities of items and when they are gone, they are gone.
Raley’s/Bel Air:
McCain Potatoes $1.47 on clearance- used $1 coupon= $.47
2 gallons organic milk $5.49- used $2 off store coupon (only .50 more than I usually pay for regular milk!)
1 Oreo Cheesecake single serve- free with store coupon
2 Snikiddy Snacks $2.69- used (2) $1 store coupons and (2) $2/1 coupons
Total was $6.83
Target:
2 Pepsi 4pks $1.99 each- used BOGO coupon
1 People Magazine $4.49- my store raised the price from last week- used $2 coupon
1 Cavendars Greek Seasoning $1.69 (not pictured)
1 Green and Black’s Organic Chocolate $2.50- used $1 coupon (not pictured)
Got $3 off for buying the magazine and Pepsi and paid with a gift card from last week= Free.
Nugget:
4 Almond Breeze Milk $.99- use (2) $1/2 coupons
4 Cucumber $.78
5lbs Bananas $3.52
Snapple Tea $5.99
Hamburger Buns $4.49
1 bag Organic Carrots $1.79 (not pictured)
1 bag organic yellow carrots – $2.99 treat for the girls (not pictured)
Oral B Floss for braces $3.19
YoBaby Yogurt $3.29- used free item coupon
Pita Bread $2.59
4 Bauduccos Wafers $.99 each
4 Happy Baby Puffs $3.49- used (4) free item coupons from Recyclebank
The subtotal was $51.07 and I used a $10 off $50 coupon from Recyclebank
I paid $21.82 and I will get back $5.99 in a rebate from Snapple!
I spent $61.56 and I have a $6 rebate coming so a net of $55.56.
At Nugget the buns were priced at $2.99 but they rang up higher. The cashier accidentally charged me for 1 cucumber rather than 4 so it all evened out. I wouldn’t have purchased the Snapple except I finally found the rebates in store and I needed to hit $50 to use my $10 off coupon.

I always enjoy seeing your shopping trips, because you post “real” shopping trips! 🙂 Its nice to see a blogger where they shows purchases like meat, fruit, veggies and other items that are needed by a family — not just the free and super cheap items. Thanks a bunch for all that you do! 🙂

Oh thank you Crystal. I feel like I disappoint everyone because I am so boring 😛 But personally I am tickled to death with myself for dipping into more and more organic and still staying pretty darn close to my $50 budget. There is so much stuff that is free but I just don’t need it right now and I still have 4 bags waiting for donation in the garage that I haven’t had time to take.

I saw the Snapple rebate forms at Super Walmart.

Great price on the organic milk. Good for you! I agree that it’s nice to see fruit and veggies in your shopping trips. I probably spend close to 1/3 of my food budget on fresh produce–about half of which is organic.

I agree with Crystal about posting “real” shopping trips. Since learning to coupon last year I have had to really stick to my ideals when it comes to shopping. Just because I can get it for free does not make it healthy for my family. Sure, we might try something outside our norm from time to time, but we like to eat fresh ingredients. I watched extreme couponing last night and I don’t need 10 boxes of texas toast or 72 bottles of mustard. I would rather save on cereal and other staples so I can afford to buy more fresh produce and lean meats. Your pictures show actual food that will nutritiously feed your family. Well done! Thank you for all your hard work!

I also like your shopping trips because they are “real”. With all this extreme couponing, I think you are doing great at showing people how to get good, real food within your budget. Most people don’t need 63 bottles of mustard, but they do need most of the items you posted!

Charlene, I also love to see your shopping trips. You did really well at Sprouts!! I couldn’t control myself and spent $50, but I did get about 8 bags of groceries. I love getting the organic deals also. Thanks for sharing.

Charlene- I enjoy your blog and all the deals you tell us about. I really liked what you said today, that there were deals that were free, but you didn’t need them, so you passed. It’s so important to have balance in your life. Watching the extreme couponing tv show was painful. I know how to use coupons, and I’m grateful for the savings, but I need to remember when enough is enough!

Nicole I had to get talked down at Sprouts 🙂 I wanted to haul away a wheel barrel of strawberries and tomatoes but those are 2 items that I am trying to switch to organic. I am bummed I missed the eggs but it was so fun to just get fantastic deals and not need complicated scenarios or lots of coupons.

Charlene, I agree with these folks too!!! Your trips are so helpful to “young families!” My kids do not need 60 deodorants 🙂 It is so helpful reading all that you have found & I can share it with my family! Thank you SO MUCH!!!

Im new to couponing and just stumbled on your site last week; and it is sooo true. I appreciate your ” real shopping trips” and I agree, we all cant live off of deodorant and toothpaste. Keep up the good work ! I love the fact you and your family are trying to do the organic thing… we are slowly introducing items into our shopping list/ menu.
